This is Chowhound. Kulka went to go check out a situation people were hearing a crying kitten. Easiest cat today 🤷🏻‍♀️ He’s gonna need a bath. I’ll do it, bring him to me. After a 1/2 capstar and 3 wash/wait/ rinses, the water was bloody. The cat was still bloody. The top of his HEAD was still bloody dirty. Unreal the fleas on this poor thing. I was pouring cups of water over his head like the hairdresser. He was so happy and finally stopped trembling. The itching was driving him nuts. A nose to tail inspection found maggots on what looked like a sore on his butt. 😑 So gross. Enter April. She came and helped. Gave him a buzz, scrubbed his boo boo’s clean. Although we kept finding more and more fleas, even after he was dry, they were at least already dead. I couldn’t find the flea comb. Gonna sleep a lot better tonight, thank you. Tomorrow Chowhound go to Paws 🐾 He’s very nice. #wetrappedatonofcats #arethesecatsfixed #cattrappers215

Way too hot, way too peopley, but I loved @lessthanjake just the same, despite falling into a sugar overdose from too much lemonade. I’m so gd old, I can’t even drink sugary drinks anymore without feeling sick 🤣 #lessthanjake till next time!

Although it never ended, the “kitten season” is truly upon us. PAWS (Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society) squeezed in 3 female cats this morning for our favorite Sir, Keith Kulka. According to the surgeon, the torty’s litter didn’t seem viable despite how large she was coming into the clinic.

These ladies now have so much to look forward to. Spaying

✔️drastically cuts the risk of developing tumors
✔️no more heat cycles
✔️no more birthing under stressful conditions outdoors
✔️improves life expectancy
✔️takes away the risk of serious infections like pyometra
✔️can save the lives of cats already in shelters by simply NOT adding more cats to the world.

These stray/feral/community females most likely have never seen a vaccination or a check up in their life. Most were born outside. While many kittens continue to be born, not all make it. And those that DO, go unvaccinated, living outside, making more cats.

We cannot adopt our way out of less cats.

We cannot rehome or relocate our way out of less cats.

Thank you to the medical staff and surgeons that support spay abort and #spayanyway we would not be able to tackle any of this without you.
