The 6th Annual Poudre Pour is a wrap! It was a beautiful fall day celebrating the history, culture, and stewardship of the Cache la Poudre River corridor.

"The lands we choose to protect send a message about what we value, and what we want to remember," said Sally Boccella, the Northern Colorado Regional Director with Senator Hickenlooper, in her speech during the legislative reception.

"Victories like this are always a team effort, and I want to thank Cache la Poudre Heritage Area Board and Executive Director, Sabrina Stoker, for bringing this to fruition, the Town of Windsor for hosting this reception, and Senator Bennet and Congressman Neguse for teaming up so we can all continue to recognize the natural resources and rich history along the Cache la Poudre," said Boccella in acceptance of the framed art in celebration of passing the S. 1942, The National Heritage Area Act that redesignated the Cache la Poudre River National Heritage Area for another 15 years.

Thank you to all of our sponsors, partners, legislators and volunteers that helped make this event possible! Check out our Facebook page for more photos. We couldn't have done it without you!! We are excited for new and different opportunities next year.

Day 54 (8/23/23) - Week 3 of school, I did so good, but I also got called high maintenance. I'm not sure what that is, but I bet it means good girl!

Day 40 -8/9/23 - I started school today and did awesome! Then I came home, stole mom's pillow, and put myself to bed. Plus a picture of me under a bed just because I'm cute!

Had a great time celebrating my bestest boy’s 5th birthday this weekend! Started off with a birthday cookie, then a long-line training class with my favorite friends @summitdogtraining , a bully stick, and a nice long nap!

The trouble with training dogs is they may have different plans. 🐶

Despite my best efforts to have a successful in-person training session Franklin said no thank you today. 🙅

Reasons he may have not been able to do it could be:
1. He currently has *another* cracked tooth we are waiting to get removed. 🦷
2. He had a hard fall yesterday which we can't see any injuries from but bruises are impossible to see on him. 💜
3. He spent a good portion of yesterday afternoon (think hours) hiding in our shower because of thunder. ⛈️

So even though he had pain meds and we did everything we could to make it a positive experience, he did play a bit with a new toy in the room, once we tried to start training set ups he couldn't handle it. Oh well. Thanks to Amy and Summit Dog Training we can try again later.

We're not done yet but here's how snake avoidance is going. Next goals are alerts at distance and moving to new locations. We also have some work to do on sound he's nervous about the sound and it's a lower priority since ideally he's never near enough to hear a rattle.

We have another in-person training next weekend!

Breweries, restaurants, coffee shops, wineries, and cafes are becoming more welcoming to our dogs. However, distractions in these spaces—tasty temptations, friendly strangers, tight quarters, new smells, and more can make these outings anything but relaxed for us, our dogs, and the staff! If we want to enjoy these fun but distracting environments with our dogs, we need to teach them HOW to do that successfully.

Join Drink With Your Dog® program creator Amber Quann in this four-week, LIVE virtual class teaching top-shelf brewery and cafe manners for your dog! Limited spots will be available; enrollment opens on May 10. Link in bio.

⚠️Did you know this week is "Dog Bite Prevention Week"?⚠️

We'll be sharing some information every day this week on how to prevent bites & also how to read dog's body language to see how comfortable they are or if they maybe need to be let go & chill out in a quieter room away from visitors/kids who may be too energetic or loud/delivery people etc.

We are our dog's advocates & it's our responsibility as owners to ensure our dog is happy & not pushed to the point of a bite because he/she feels there is no other choice. A bite is the last step in a chain of signals which can often go unnoticed if we don't pay careful attention to-yawning, looking away, liplicking, ears pinned back, stiff body, whale eye & raised body hair are just a few to look out for.

Please make sure to share our Dog Bite Prevention Week posts this week as it's so important that they reach as many people as possible.

If we can help keep dogs, kids & other family members/visitors safe & happy then we'll consider the posts very worthwhile. 👍🐾
