On Saturday we had the pleasure of Alice Sumners coming to us to deliver a Gymnastics and Dance Workshop. The children all worked together to create a unique gymnastics routine which they performed for their parents at the end of the session. I think it goes without saying that all the children throughly enjoyed themselves and would like to say a big thank you to Alice for a fantastic session ⭐️ #gymnastics #kingsbridgegymclub

💜✨We have some exciting news, we would love to welcome our new Coach Alice to the Tarka team! We cannot wait for her to bring her sparkle and experience to our Club! Here’s a little bit about her…✨💜

Hello! My name is Alice Sumners, and I’m so excited to be joining Tarka School of Gymnastics as a self-employed Coach & Choreographer. 💃🤸🏻‍♀️

Gymnastics has always been a huge part of my life — I started when I was just one years old. Then after years of hard work and dedication, I went on to represent Team GB and England in international competitions. 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
I was also crowned British Floor Champion as well as silver medalist on Beam and Bars. I represented The Academy of Gymnastics at the British Team Championships where we secured gold two years running.
During this time, I was also filmed for CBBC’s hit TV show ‘Gym Stars’, you can view the final season on BBC iPlayer. 🎬

Unfortunately, my competitive career was cut short after being diagnosed with a chronic nerve disorder. However, this became the beginning of an exciting new chapter, kick-starting my journey as a coach and choreographer. 🩷

Throughout my gymnastics career, the performance side was always my favourite. After retiring from elite gymnastics, I trained in Dance and Performing Arts at college for two years, gaining a Level 3 Extended Diploma. I continue to train in dance, which allows me to bring creativity, artistry, and performance quality into my coaching. 🩰

I’m passionate about continually developing my knowledge, as I truly believe you can never stop learning. I’m currently working towards my Level 4 WAG qualification and have recently passed my theory exam. 🥳

My biggest passion is helping others achieve their dreams in a positive and supportive environment. 🩷 I also run my own business, Sumners Style, which offers additional opportunities for gymnasts/dancers. If you’d like to know more, head over to @sumners_style and pop me a DM. 🙋🏻‍♀️

Laura and Millie have already made me feel so welcome, I am delighted to be able to work alongside them. I can’t wait to start this next chapter and look forward to meeting you all soon! 😊
