Day 19 National Poetry Month Chapter 19 Poem 19

Lost/Loss

I woke up this morning and felt loss/lost.
Started taking roll- body, soul, mind intact. Nothing happened as I slept,
Not even dreams.

It could be growing pains,
Change is so dis-comfortable.
So out of the norm, unexplainable.
And so fucking lonely.

I felt loss/lost
As the sun rose,
And birds sang.
And breezes caressed tender blades of grass.
Like I'm losing part of me and
don't know what will take its place.

Like good enough is
no longer GOOD ENOUGH.

I felt this way in relationships before
In church before
At jobs before

And I closed those doors and opened new ones.

Sometimes life moves too fast,
When you evolve.
All things revolve.
The only center, elusive.
Like the eye of a storm,
Constant but moving.

I felt loss/lost
As I opened my eyes to my day.
My choices await.
My future at stake.
My goals in the making.

The only thing to lose is
All my status quo.
