POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

In 2021 when we - the @theworldaround team and board - thought about a prize and mentorship program for young people under 25, we dreamt of a lot of things. We are big dreamers here. But making three short documentaries about those mentorships, telling stories of three of the most extraordinary and inspiring people I’ve ever had the privilege to meet, and premiering them at a New York film festival was not one I could have imagined. Our team - @satomib @anaminujin @dahowarth - brought me here. They wanted these films, they could see a way of making these films, and they made them with such exceptional care and talent and commitment that it propelled us into this space. As @mohamed_salem_mohamed_ali taught us: Start where you are, and do what you can with what you have. We have so much! I am so grateful to everyone who has ever been part of @youngclimateprize past present and future: our cohorts, mentors, supporters, sponsors, board members and the team who have been in it since that first open call. young climate stories is a @theworldaround and @4hawkprod series made possible by our design partner @millerknoll 🦩

An evening where film, food, and design come together.
ADFF joined Fisher & Paykel for an intimate evening pairing a curated program of short films with a multi-course dinner by Chef Sam Mason, creating an unexpected dialogue between what we see on screen and what we experience at the table.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for an evening of conversation, cinema, and culinary storytelling. 🍽️

This is just the beginning; please join us to celebrate the official season of ADFF:NY from Oct 12-17, 2026. Link in the bio. 🎬

What do we do with what’s already been built?
What happens when buildings become experiments, movements are reconsidered, and the people left out of history are brought back into the frame?

The 2026/27 season of the Architecture & Design Film Festival begins this October. The season opens with ADFF:NY, presented by Eventscape, beginning at MoMA before moving to Village East by Angelika for the remainder of the festival.

From there, ADFF travels to Toronto, Vancouver, Mumbai, Detroit, and Chicago, bringing stories of architecture and design from around the world to the screen.

18 years of ADFF.
A new season of stories about architecture, design, and the world we’re building next.

ADFF 2026/27 — more films coming soon.

All is Well, a new exhibition by French artist Eric Schmitt at RALPH PUCCI International, unveils a collection of Plasterglass works defined by vibrant colours and a renewed sense of scale.

In conversation with Ralph Pucci and Eric Schmitt, STIR discovers how the former’s journey mirrors the latter’s belief that great design quietly outlasts its own time. “Colour and good humour seem to me to be a welcome antidote,” says Schmitt.

The pieces engage space with clarity and restraint, balancing sculptural presence with function.

Last Saturday, we joined our friends @theworldaround at @themuseumofmodernart for its annual summit. The day brought together architects, designers, artists, thinkers, and researchers from across geographies and disciplines to explore how they are engaging with and finding solutions for the environmental and social conditions defining our time.

There were so many memorable takeaways from the presentations and moderated conversations centered on equitable futures, climate intelligence, and cultural imagination.

Congratulations to @beatricegalilee and the entire team at The World Around on another deeply inspiring summit.

Drawing on vernacular Himalayan traditions such as kath-kuni timber construction and stone masonry, architecture studio NORTH (@live_north) develops contemporary building systems rooted in local material intelligence.

Founded by architect Rahul Bhushan (@raul_bhushan) in the Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh in India, the design and research practice works at the intersection of architecture, ecology, and craft. Projects ranging from community-built homestays and craft-led hospitality spaces to experimental residential prototypes are realized through close collaboration with regional artisans and farmers.

In this interview with @sunena_maju, Bhushan talks about NORTH’s on-site material experimentation, research-driven design, and how the work reimagines traditional knowledge as a living framework for climate-responsive architecture in fragile mountain ecologies.

Mumbai was never meant to sit quietly in the background.
Conceived as our proposed response to the ADFF x STIR 2026 curatorial brief, this pavilion places the city at the centre — not as context, but as character.
A spiraling form unfolds as both archive and journey, translating memory, movement, and contradiction into space.
Designed as a sequence rather than an object, the pavilion moves through moments of compression and release, land and sea, permanence and flux — mirroring Mumbai’s restless rhythm.
Layered paths and pauses echo its streets, thresholds, and ever-shifting skyline.
Rooted in reuse and light-impact construction, sustainability becomes a design constraint rather than an afterthought — allowing narrative and responsibility to coexist.
Recognized for its clarity of concept and strength of spatial ideation.

From site visits and material hunts to late decisions and quiet breakthroughs - this booth carries more than just a final form.

Grateful to Samta Nadeem for the trust, generosity, and words that truly matter.

Collaborating on ADFF x STIR Mumbai felt natural driven by open conversations, shared intent, and genuine curiosity at every step.

Thank you STIR for the opportunity.

Moments like these remind us that design isn’t just about what gets built- it’s about the people, the process, and everything that happens behind the scenes. #DesignCircus #ConceptDrivenDesign #ArchitectureOfIdeas #SpatialDesign #Curatedspaces

LIVinSET was conceived as a spatial pause where light, surface and silence come together to momentarily free objects from their obligation to function. Designed and executed by Design Circus for ADFF:STIR Mumbai 2026 at the National Centre for the Performing Arts, the installation framed the interior as a site of performance.

Furniture became props.
Objects guided movement.
Everyday rituals turned into choreography. While some elements evolved during execution, the core intent remained intact adaptability is part of design.
Built consciously as a sustainable system, every material and object used within LIVinSET was detailed to be dismantled, reused and reintegrated post-show.
More than a display, LIVinSET became a place for dialogue - where architects, designers, artists and students gathered, questioned and connected. An interior not just to be seen, but experienced.

Design as stillness. Design as motion.

Can an architecture and design film festival reach all your senses ?

That’s what ADFF:STIR did in Mumbai this year!

I went thinking it would be a few days of good films but it ended up being an event where you leave with fresh references and a lot of ideas swirling. The screenings were inspiring and educational, from film around Charles and Ray to Dior. And the format kept it from feeling like you’re just sitting and watching. There were monologues, conversations, music performances. It was all encompassing.

But the best part for me was the Jaguar pavilions.

Ten design teams curated by Aric Chen created ten different pavilion concepts. Different materials, different architectural moves, different stories. I kept thinking, “Mumbai needs more of this.” Not to mention the music performance by Aashna Gupta and Hidayat Husain khan.

I hope ADFF:STIR keeps growing and comes back even bigger.
