A project exploring music as a bridge to help us feel less alone in our shared human experience.

Following an intimate acoustic performance, @emilygraytful sat down with @sameergadhia @payamd and @jjtills of @youngthegiant to explore mental health, their experience as artists, and the stories behind Victory Garden; an exploration of radical empathy and learning to see the world through a child’s eyes.

We all listen to feel something.

An artist feels something deeply enough to write a song. We feel something deeply enough to recognize ourselves within it.

That’s what fascinates me about music.

It has this incredible ability to bridge two human experiences that may have never met otherwise. A stranger’s story somehow becomes our own. And for a few minutes, we remember that we’re not the only one who’s ever felt this way.

In music, a bridge is the part of a song that breaks the pattern of repeating verses and choruses. It interrupts what’s familiar and carries us somewhere new.

Sometimes our minds need that, too.

So many of us get caught in repetitive thought patterns of fear, self-doubt, anxiety, shame, playing on a loop until they begin to sound like the truth. But music has a way of interrupting that loop. Like meditation, it can gently pull us out of our minds and back into our feeling bodies. It reminds us that beneath all of those thoughts is something quieter, something more honest, something that feels more like who we really are.

That’s why I started The Music & Mental Health Project.

My hope is that these experiences become bridges.

Between artists and listeners.
Between isolation and connection.
Between the stories we’ve been telling ourselves and the possibility of a new one.

Because sometimes all it takes is one song to remind us there’s another way to feel 🖤

Six years ago, I woke up.
I kept wishing the world would just stop—
pause—
so I could catch up.
Not with everyone else,
but with me, myself, and I.

I started questioning everything—
myself, my choices, my environment, the life I had built.
On paper, I was doing it all “right”… I was killing it..
And it was killing me.

I got curious.
Relentlessly curious.
I started asking deeper questions,
shedding layers, holding myself accountable,
creating and recreating—
over and over—
until it finally made sense.
Until I felt aligned.
Until it felt like it was supposed to.

Two days ago, I found my manifesting journal from five years back—
pages filled with writing, wishing, wanting, hoping…
trying to believe in myself
until there was no doubt left in me..  I wrote and dreamt about freedom—
about building a business that gave me choice,
sustaining myself on my own terms,
and creating a life that was unbound,
unapologetic, and free…
A life that finally felt like mine.
 Now, I’m reading those same words from my studio by the beach, 2 years deep into the best chapter of my life… realizing, witnessing, reveling—  I did it. Everything I said I would.

Grateful for all that has lead me here.
Hungry for where this big beautiful life
will continue to take me 🦋✨

Please join me on Friday, October 3rd, for a special evening at the legendary @EastWestStudios to celebrate my new EP, All Ways, Always.

We’ll be previewing these tracks a week ahead of its official release (October 10) as immersive mixes by Les Camacho @lesismore1, presented in @Sony’s cutting-edge spatial format, 360 Reality Audio. You’ll also get to check out Sony’s 360 Virtual Mixing Environment (360VME), with on-site demo measurements available to sign up for throughout the night.

This EP means a lot to me as it’s dedicated to my dear friend and collaborator Allen Blickle @ill.pickles, who sadly recently passed away. Writing these songs with him over the past few years has been one of the greatest honors of my life.

Alongside the EP playback, I’ll also be sharing some additional music I’ve been working on with Trevor Coulter @lemonbluemusic and Nick Olivas @idkwho.yet. Everything will be powered by Sony technology and heard through @kaliaudio incredible speaker system.

It’s going to be an intimate night for artists, audio pros, and music lovers to come together, celebrating Allen, celebrating this project, and experiencing the future of sound.

This Sunday we celebrated the launch of @_themproject and it was beyond my wildest dreams. Almost 100 people - family, friends, new faces - coming together to discuss, think about, and reimagine mental health. This IS the movement, and it was felt.

There were so many magical moments, but one that I’ll hold in my heart forever was the energy in the room when I introduced the mission and vision of The M Project. I decided not to prepare anything, for if I were to write a speech in advance it would have been written in a silo, confined to my own brain and my own experiences. But by creating the speech live, from the energy of the room, and the conversations of the day, we were all creating it together. It may have been messier but it was a lot more beautiful. Which is a metaphor for what The M Project is.

I don’t have all the answers for how The M Project will continue to manifest itself in the world, and I don’t want to. We are all creating this movement together, and I am so overwhelmed with gratitude to be on this journey with each and every one of you. This mission is so much bigger than me and so much bigger than each of us, so let’s keep going together.

We can’t wait to celebrate our launch with you this Sunday.

We want to take a moment to express our sincerest gratitude to our partners for helping bring this to life and collectively supporting our mission of weaving mental health into culture in their own unique ways.

When we began planning this event, we wanted every detail to reflect that mission. We believe opportunities to inspire more positive states of mind are everywhere, if we pay attention to them. Woven throughout the event you’ll find moments highlighting the ways our partners impact and support mental health, and we hope it brings more awareness, presence, gratitude, and honoring of the importance of tending to our inner world.

This event is a tapestry of thoughtful choices, each one highlighting the ways mental health can be woven into our culture. From the venue, to the grazing table and mocktail bar, to the silent auction and gift bags.

It’s a reminder that tending to our mental well-being isn’t limited to a single practice. It shows up in how we connect, how we move, how we nourish, how we rest, and how we create.

We are so grateful to get to share this space with you, to celebrate the movement we’re building together, and to reimagine what it looks like when mental health is not only normalized, but honored.
