POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Time is truly nothing more than a construct, and when days are long & intense yet feel like they happened in the blink of an eye….well, I know that it’s just a mortal construct.

I’ve definitely seen 5 days feel as 1 blink of an eye, but that blink ranks among the most incredible moments of « awakening » that I’ve had on this Theo-journey of mine.

And it all was yet another reminder that I have to be very careful what I (un)consciously ask for …..because I WILL get it. And with so much more…….😮😲

Theo and companions understand. And they’ve been guiding all along…..and this time, they decided that it was time.

Time to open a door to a country I’d never set foot in.

Time to open my heart and mind to another level of knowledge & wisdom anchored in deep historical context.

Time to start the #shareteachlearngrow process alongside descendants of those who occupied the lands well before European invasion.

Time to just BE in the Kalinago Territory, Dominica.

My heart is very very full🙏🏽❤️…and deeply humbled by what I’ve been allowed to feel there. 🙏🏽🙏🏽

Our journeys together have just begun🔥🙏🏽❤️

So grateful for you all. So grateful.

Incredible heartfelt thanks must go to the FAO for facilitating this opportunity🙏🏽

PS. @sunsetchocolate_ I fully christened the Smith & Wesson beauty this trip. She’s got so many stories to tell! Thank you for this beautiful little powerful blade🎯🙏🏽💪🏽

....and that information is what either makes it medicine to build, repair, strengthen, defend etc.so that we can be vibrant, running on the right track and able to weather many of life's challenges : aka be #resilient

..... or it makes us sick, weak, foggy, crumbling, defenseless, hooked on drugs to prop us up so we can drag through the day and the rest of life ..... aka be #notresilientatall

The "us" I refer to includes all beings on this planet. Because there is really no us or we. There is truly only ONE. #everythingisconnected

And that means that we are not only WHAT we eat, but what IT eats as well.

Let that sink in.......because quality in = quality out.
Garbage in = garbage out.

And that includes our #mindsets about ourselves, the land (soil and all its above-and-below-ground partners) and our contributing role as #stewards while we are here .

Many thanks @sunsetchocolate_ for the handiest field gear that helps me scoop the yummy goodness into myself so that fuel AND information do well what needs to be done, so that I can do my job better #inserviceofthecollective 🙏🙏✅✅💯💯❤️❤️

Inclusion bars are ABSOLUTELY a way to educate the palate! 🧐
.
Though I’ve never traveled to Brazil (and might never get the opportunity to do so), I feel this @labrigaderiedeparis bar vicariously allowed me to taste the “national dish” of Brazil: feijoada 😲
.
There are different variations of this meaty stew, but most contain beef, pork, sausage & beans + accompanied by rice & farofa (manioc flour). Do you know why slices of orange are often served with this dish? To help with digesting all the heavy ingredients 😳
.
Inspired by feijoada, this particular bar has crunchy black beans, puffed rice, smoked shredded coconut & candied orange zest all atop 70% Fazenda Camboa dark chocolate. 😋
.
So many textures & flavors! It’s earthy & hearty. I can understand why this celebratory dish is considered “comfort food.” 😍
.
Taste the world without leaving home, enabled by creative makers who use inclusion bars as their medium 👏 Thanks to @37chocolates for sharing a sample with me 🙏
.
The first two photos are mine. Since I didn’t have the packaging, I borrowed a photo from @sunsetchocolate_’s feed.

One of the things that has delighted me the most about starting J Street Chocolate is the craft chocolate community. I have loved getting to know other small craft makers near and far and also chocolate enthusiasts (and/or others in the chocolate industry but not quite makers). I hope I continue to build new friendships and connections and that people don’t shy away from reaching out :). I’m here to share my experiences and chocolate with you too!

This weekend it was so nice to meet @sunsetchocolate_ and an even bigger delight when he brought me these three cacao trees from Kaui! I look forward to watching them grow and hopefully I can keep them alive in our less than ideal climate for cacao here 😶‍🌫️☺️!
