Eurila Cave @exploringeurila @everyday_bk_ had/has a way of getting the essence out of whomever she pointed a camera at. Yes. @sunspot.foundation was inspired by the Playboy Mansion..if it were managed by the Black Panthers and curated by the Studio Museum. We talked abt who this is for and how white girls had to tone down their entitlement because Black Women rule here. And..what she says at the end… sheesh! She is the gift that keeps on giving! 🖤✊🏿🖤

Can I be honest with y’all for a minute?!

Two years ago on March 3, 2024 I set out to bring my vision to life. What I didn’t know was how executing a mere idea would bring me so much anxiety. So much doubt, and soooo much second guessing myself. But you know what I did it anyway!!!

Do the HARD things. Do it SCARED. Do it BROKE. Do it with FEAR in the back of your mind. Do it ALL!

Lesson of the Dai: “It’s important that you do what you SAID YOU WOULD DO!”

And if you’re not following ➡️ @theherstoryseries then what are YOU DOING?

From the Yay Area’s Upper Room - (MASSIVE shout out to the visionary Rafiq Bilal for bringing that to light!), to BK, to SA (Eastern Cape), and now Italy (Florence). It was always meant to be.

To my brother from another Mother, it is the grandest honor to present your visual talents to the art world - from across the pond.

3 decades later…nothing can stop what is destined. And yea, sure the room isn’t that little (you know me!) but let’s not get distracted from the more important details such as…

1. How exactly do you make these gorgeous images?

2. What don’t you do?

3. Who remembers the Upper Room? That was the jam! We need more spaces like that. And last but still of great importance,

4. Did you cop that red beanie from @andre3000? BE HONEST! 🤪

Viewings until February 10th. DM for an appointment.

“Every Black person, in their lifetime, should know what it feels like to be at the center.” ~ mTkalla Keaton

Introducing the credo and the captivating synthography works from the imagination of mTkalla Keaton.

Where the traditional photographer uses the camera to capture what is in front of him, the Synthographer uses technology and their imagination to visualize concepts into scenes that may not exist in reality…though they eventually do.

As is the case in everything Keaton’s ever done, these works celebrate Black identity whilst unapologetically placing Blackness front and center. Amidst gorgeous floral motifs the result is an ever-evolving collection of images that feel both editorial and afro-futuristic in spirit.

Proudly, they exist at the Black-female led Gal Victor (Florence, Italy) alongside vintage images of Black men who lived in lesser-technological times; amongst terms that laid the groundwork for everything we believe in - community, collaboration, and self-authorship.
