Artist | Peter Hill

Peter Hill's artwork 'I'm Going To Miss Art Magazines When They're Gone' features real art magazine covers from artist Peter Hill's 50-year engagement with the international art press.

Handwritten text on each cover captures Hill's memories of editorial teams, writers, and ideas from across decades—from the Venice Biennale edition of Art and Artists (1966), through the founding of Art and Text(Australia), to Art Monthly (London), Wolkenkratzer (Berlin), ARTnews (New York), ARTpress (Paris) and Frieze (London).

Through this piece, Hill commemorates art magazines' fading presence, acknowledging that while art magazines may continue, their print form faces an inevitable decline.

You can see Hill's work in our current exhibition, 'Chronomingle', curated by Cūrā8, on display until 30 November.

My heartfelt thanks to Cūrā8 (@kimjdon + @theseanlowry ) for curating ‘Chronomingle’ and to @project8.gallery for giving me the opportunity to be part of this incredible journey. It’s a privilege to share space with such a talented group of artists whose works breathe life into this exploration of time and storytelling.

Each artist—Jia Jia Chen (@jiajiajichen ), Janelle Evans (@janelleevansartist ), Peter Hill (@superfictions1 ), Priyanka Jain (@visuoral_arts ), Claire Lehmann (@_studiolehmann ), Elif Sezen (@_elif_sezen_ ), Stickleback, Zamara Zamara (@zamarapresents ), Siying Zhou (@siying_z )—brings a unique voice and vision, making the exhibition a dynamic tapestry of diverse perspectives. Their creativity and dedication have turned ‘Chronomingle’ into a space where narratives don’t just coexist, but resonate and amplify each other.

The exhibition runs through November 30, open Wednesday to Saturday, 11 am - 6 pm. Don’t miss the chance to experience this vibrant interplay of art and ideas. 📷 by @lu_spent , @zack.yuzhen

Exhibition | Chronomingle

19 October – 30 November 2024

‘Chronomingle’ continues this week at Project8, Weds-Sat.

‘Chronomingle’ is a neologism for describing the interplay of storytelling practices across diverse media and art forms. Combining ‘chronos’ (time) and ‘mingle’ (to mix or blend), the term seeks to encapsulate how multiple, interwoven narratives can converge, overlap and interact within a single work, exhibition or event.

Through a mixture of visual art, performance, movement, song, literature, film, and digital media, the artists in this exhibition consider the fluidity of time and the interconnected natures of storytelling across different forms and cultures.

Curated by Cūrā8 and featuring:
