Introducing SONIC VISIONS @qubits.mk x @gridbend

Music gives us something to hear. Art gives it something to see.

Sonic Visions is a collaboration between GridBend × Qubit.mk, bringing these two worlds together. We pick a track, dig a little deeper into the music and the artist behind it, then look at the artwork that gives the record its visual identity. Think of it as listening with your ears — and looking with your eyes.

Sonic Vision #1:

“Is It Me?” , “Unfailing Love” by Uruguayan electronic

Electronic artist Michelle, released on July 31, 2026, via Kalahari Oyster Cult. Producing since 2015, this is her Kalahari debut. The song sets the scene with repetitive vocals that mumble something mysterious and worth knowing so you can dive into a world of dark techno and electro rhythms that instantly teleport you into the best dance club ever. You just need to close your eyes and let go, of time and space.

Now, look at it.

The visual world of Unfailing Love was created by multidisciplinary Czech artist, tattooist and graphic designer Markéta Skálková, also known as Kétka. Moving between digital art, print and body art, her work sits somewhere between playful, surreal and dark.

@supermarketkovitost - instagram

For Unfailing Love, her illustration creates a visual world that feels strangely at home with Michelle’s sound — mysterious, playful and just a little unsettling. Her approach to storytelling can also be seen in Houba (Mushroom), a self-conceived and illustrated fable with six different endings.

One record. One artwork. Two ways into the same world.

Our open day is coming 👀✨

This year we will start our program on 29th 3pm till midnight and then 30th from 10am till ??

Beside all the cutie cryptids and creatures from our residency program we also welcome Robert Johannes Hummel to host a fantastic Performative Dinner event on the 29th!

events would be suggested donation 10+ euro / 18+ euros (dinner included)

On 29th we will have a narrative guide from the introduction of the history of the house we reside in by our host. Followed by a walk to the natural surroundings with 2 site-specific pieces and then starting our program back in the house with a cooking show, film screening and concerts by our collective and 2 Dresden based Artists. @yoga.nu.usmd @shannon_soundquist

* If you want to stay for a night and join the next day, simply bring your sleeping mat and sleeping bag and whatever you need for sleepover. 🩴🌶️🍕🦆🍙🎮
///
On the 30th, the sounds of us preparing breakfast will serve as a prelude, gently calling everyone into another dream to enjoy a dreamlike breakfast. After, we'll move into a program that's more body-sensory in nature, with collective members and hosts joining to guide us on this journey, from body awareness into the somatic. 🪲🦄🦋🐝

Once the official program wraps up at 7pm, there'll be an off-program night walk together, a slow and gentle way to bring this public event to a close. 🦉👻

After the public event, we'll be still staying until 4th Sep. During this time, we'll still be hosting some easy activities.

This year thanks to @fondbudoucnosti_zukunftsfonds supporting our residency program and @musikfonds.de supporting our public event concerts.

as well thanks to @namlit.illi and courtesy of UDK @s4ntp_gencomp supporting us with sound system and Torhaus gallery hosting us every year and all the loved ones giving mental supports in their ways

The first week we arrived, we got a cute invitation by @rashomotion to join their sun eclipse- site specific event near by our residency spot. As the sun and moon drew closer we activated senses among the quarry in Mount Bieleboh. After that, we followed the shape of the hill and got to the shoulder of the hill that could host us to witness the eclipse of the sun. Remember! You have to REST after you watch it directly for three minutes. Tears leaked from the canthus. Couldn’t and don’t want to find out why.🥺

At the event @sabiwa.music presents a film screening with theme of searching for the sun.
@anaosergej and @_junying_wu presented a performance tracing how water, sound, and the body carry ancient temporalities through darkness, revealing a collective, earthbound rhythm beneath the pace of the present.
@andrejspoikaans11 joined a composition based on modeling a closed economy of metaphorical ‘bird’ exchange as expressed in a traditional Latvian easter dance/song/game “Bagātais un nabagais” [eng. “The rich and the poor”]. The process of the game can be expressed in simple algorithmic terms. The composition which exists both as a computer program and a text score, we performed a single ‘bird’ exchange cycle, with @outsidein_insideout_ collective.

Even though this year’s theme is “rest,” we’ve been busy non-stop since day one this week felt like a whole month ƪ(•̃͡ε•̃͡)∫ beside cleaning, exploring and all the accidents happening randomly in the house we live(like car tire broken, washmachine want to take a break…),
We were also thrilled to be invited by two nearby organizations, Rashmotion and Elbe Lab. These side quests were very fun (more details coming in the next post 👀)

This week We also welcomed two students from Berlin University of the Arts (UDK) @g.s.ruessler and @semi__nemi Folkwang University of the Arts, who led us through a Spy FM Workshop/// We built miniature FM transmitters together and experimented with different circuit configurations and frequencies that turning sound picked up by a tiny microphone into an FM signal that nearby radios could catch.
ლ（╹ε╹ლ）
We also had a little plot twist this week: a river separates us from the train station, and we usually rely on a ferry to cross it. But due to the recent drought, the water level got too low and the ferry stopped running entirely (apparently unprecedented)! What's normally a 5-minute trip turned into a two-hour detour, and we accidentally unlocked the "hitchhiking skill 🚗💨
The next day it was a rainy day, while walking to the dock just to check for our friend who have to leave to see if the ferry runs. Two stranger uncles saw our worry face and pulled over to give us a ride. The captain even rang the bell twice to celebrate the moment. We teared up for this cuteness, for the rain, and for the small encounters along this journey 💛
