Oh, how I missed the stage 🪩💃✨

THANK YOU @debbiewilsondance and @misschionyc for bringing me back to my happy place and for making the journey so enjoyable. Learning from you both is such a privilege and I’m forever inspired by you🫶❤️

Thank you to my DOLLS and DIVAS for being the most wonderful, talented, and fun group of dancers and for making every rehearsal feel like a party🎉 ❣️

Thank you to my family and friends for always being supportive, and thank you to everyone who came and hyped us up 💪💗

Multiple episodes of right anterior shoulder dislocations/subluxations for the last 10 years and two of which happened while I was dancing in BDC and Ripley. New onset osteoarthritis of the bilateral knees probably secondary to over use after intensives and three back to back classes on Sundays. A lot of struggles, from exhausting clinic tasks and cases, sleepless nights from anxiety, major break up from a long-term relationship and so many more. In all of these Dance has been my best friend, my stress buster, a vortex that swallows all the negative energy that’s consuming me from within. I never imagined that despite all the hurdles after 7 years, dancing would pave the way for me to be back on the stage again.

This NYC journey will never be complete without dance. I’ve always told my friends I came in for the dance, not for people but ironically a lot of my close friends are the ones I share the dance floor with. I guess the mutual affinity towards a cohort of the same energy is just too strong. I am forever grateful to the people I shared this journey with. To the teachers especially to my sensei @misschionyc for the opportunity to be a part of your masterpiece. To my friends whose cheers and support always fueled my performance in classes and in our showcase. To The Dolls, it’s an honor to have shared the same stage with you.

6 months to go NYC. I promise to make every moment count. Expecto Patronum 🗽✨

PS can’t tag all. Limit is 20 people. 🙇🏻‍♂️

I open my phone for a casual scroll. The first thing I see is an article about s*x trafficked girls in Mexico. In between photos of my friends is a post about “alpine divorce” - the cute name they created for when a man m*rders his wife while hiking. I guess it happens often enough that they needed a name. I see a post about Epste!n survivors. A woman who victimized them sits in jail. A man who victimized them sits in the White House. I haven’t seen much about them recently because CNN has been focused more on the “R@pe Academy” - another name, this one for men who share tips on how to drug and ass*ult their sleeping wives.

I see images of celebrities on the red carpet at last nights gala who look like skeletons. I scroll past a fitness influencer with a discount code for ozempic shots. I close my phone. Time to get out of bed and get ready for work.

I’m 35 years old and my whole professional career has been about holding space for women, queer people, and survivors of all kinds to feel stronger, more capable & connected, and ultimately, a little bit safer in their bodies. It’s the most important work I can do because this world is not safe for us.

This weekend I had the honor of co-leading another 16 hour Trauma Informed Yoga Teacher Training alongside @supermatt1123 and @exhale2inhale at @brooklynwellnessclub ✨ 15 individuals gathered to bear witness, to co-create, and to go forth into their own communities well equipped to help make the world feel just a little bit safer for survivors.

Thank you to the ETI team for giving me space for this since 2018 and cheers to this beautiful & inspiring cohort, thank you for your open hearts and minds 💜
