Catching the last warm days and enjoying the seasonal terrace, I found myself at a cosy new bar - Supper bar - in Old Żoliborz that feels a little like elegant #streetfood, with hot dogs, wine and ice cream.
It feels like a place to meet friends when you’re not particularly hungry, but come more for the atmosphere and the surroundings. A walk through Old Żoliborz, admiring its architecture and hidden corners. Inside, candles and white tablecloths add a little charm and warmth. The service was friendly, and the hot dog (I had „Street cart”, 24 zł) - served in a homemade potato bun with a sausage from Vienna - was simple, but really good via @warsawslook 🕯️🕯️🕯️

Sylvain Pataille, Marsannay - Clos du Roy 2023 🦄

Light and perfumed. Hibiscus, red and black fruit, but I want to clearly emphasize - blue fruits. The initial nose was very pit-forward and cherry-driven. Great structure, appropriate concentration and acidity, it will age beautifully. Limestone and chalky tannins.

A welcome change. My last few attempts with this producer ended in failure, but those were white wines only.

10/10

Absolute monster rating for dawgs_n_dogs. The first perfect 10!

With @supperbarwaw being the brainchild of @supperlardo I knew going in, this was going to be a special dawg. Turns out it was 3 special dawgs with each being better than the last.

With a simple menu of “food”, dogs and sliders, they are focused on the quality of plates rather than the number of plates. Naturally I had to go big and get all three dawgs and they did not disappoint.

The classic tasted just like the dawgs I would have as a kid growing up. Ketchup, mustard, and a few pickles on top. This was perfectly balanced on flavor. The hamburger slice pickles were not ideal but since they were on the small side they did not impact the overall experience much.

Next was the street cart dawg. They’ve managed to capture the essence of the New York classic here in Warsaw. The soft potato bun, Viennese dawg, topped with homemade sauerkraut, caramelized onions, and brown mustard immediately took me back to my trips to New York City where I ate way too many dawgs.

The final dawg (one I was most excited for) was the Italian. A dawg with iceberg lettuce sounded strange but with all of the other toppings, the mix was spot on. This was my favorite of the 3 as the dawg itself had some additional flavor and spice packed in. Super seasonal tomatoes with Maldon salt was great to see as it is peak tomato season.

While the dawgs were out of this world, the overall experience was also wonderful. Very friendly staff that were knowledgeable of the whole menu and were able to recommend various wines. It seems they brought the best parts of SuperLardo while creating a relaxing environment that everyone can enjoy. Special bonus points for the delicious affogato for dessert.

Unfortunately there was not a Chicago dawg on the menu. However, if anyone would be able to make a proper Chicago dawg in Warsaw, it would be SupperBar. @supperbarwaw, if you need a taste tester for the Chicago dawg, I will be first in line 😉
