I went in with a goal of 1hr20 and I failed in the pursuit.

It’s hard for me not to be disappointed — 40 minutes into the race, I was right on schedule to achieving my goal! But on run 6/8 I lost count of my laps and at the same time the leaderboard glitched and I ended up running an extra lap instead of heading into the farmer carry. I tried to mentally reframe this during the race that I felt physically good and the extra lap wouldn’t hold me back, but at the end of the day, it added additional time to my finish.

And lastly, the wallballs. I knew this station would take me 5-6 minutes. I planned for that. But this station ended up taking me 10 minutes. This is where most of my disappointment comes from because I felt it was unfairly judged. In every video and photo, I am dropping it like it’s hot in the club, but the official kept telling me “lower”, “lower” and no repping me. I’m sure I did 150-170 wallballs to complete the 100 — the last station BTW when your heart rate is 200 on Jesus and legs cement.

HOWEVER, despite being disappointed I’m also really proud. Since our first hyrox completed as a double, I’ve put in 10 months of training and 6 months into my solo, with 3 of those months being in physio for a hip flexor injury where I wasn’t able to run. I’ve pushed myself and kept focused.

So here are some positives:

1. My running felt strong and my pace throughout all the runs was consistent!
2. I always felt in control, I never felt chaotic or like I needed to stop or slow down
3. My roxzone time (transition time between the runs and stations) was only 4min49sec which only 6% of people achieve
4. My finish time of 1hr40 is actually the average finish for a women’s open solo — 1hr38-1hr44
5. Next race I should have a new PB😉
