🗓️ Very special day it is. Today I release the 2nd installment of my SOL Aves digital series. 🕊️ 💿 🎧

Boogie Protege joins an incredible New Music Friday alongside releases from legends and innovators like Erykah Badu & The Alchemist, Floating Points, Mike D, and A Certain Ratio.

This track of mine made it onto the front page of New Music Friday on Spotify. 🙏🏽

Listeners, friends, family, DJs, selectors, and the community — this one is for you. Cheers 🍻

Boogie Protege is a slow-burning boogie journey, hand-crafted, arranged and produced by myself, and mastered by the brilliant Tee Solomon.

Check your favorite music platform and bump it in your car, at home, or — for the discerning DJ selectors — drop it on the dance floor. Would love to how dancers 🕺💃 respond to the boogie. DM me for feedback 🙏

Worldwide. 🌎

Label and distribution by the fine folks @supportsystemrecordings

Executive producers @jeffrossdallas and Lyle.

Thank you for listening.

Liner notes:
“Boogie Protégé is a slow-burning boogie journey built for discerning selectors. A classic LinnDrum foundation drives the groove, layered with live drums, handcrafted percussion, crisp side sticks, rim shots and claps that give the track an organic pulse. Expressive fretless bass channels the spirit of classic boogie, while bold Prophet-5 and Juno-inspired synth stabs weave through lush pads and tastefully placed disco strings, adding lift and color at unexpected moments. An elegantly orchestrated mid-track break unfolds into a satisfying crescendo before settling into an extended DJ-friendly outro, giving selectors plenty of room for seamless blends and creative transitions. Organic, dynamic and deeply musical, Boogie Protégé is crafted for dancefloors that appreciate groove, musicianship and timeless soul.” - @supportsystemrecordings

2021. A year of hope & resilience. Trying to fight this invisible ennemy that has transformed our lives for the past 2 years. Staying safe, doing the right thing, while also fighting for our rights to go back to a certain normality. A lot of false starts which ended in the situation we’re in now. There was also the unexpected loss of my best friend Phil and recently of my dog Einstein. But life goes on, and we have to make the best of it, Here, Now.

A big thanks to all that have supported what I do this year, and of course to all my friends, family and my wife for the love. I’m grateful for all of you and I’m looking forward to be able to see more of you next year! Here’s a recap of my musical year…and Happy New Year!!! (hope is free!).

I have some new music out today! I first met Tommy @turbojazz last December when I was playing with @atjazzofficial and Dom Servini at @thejazzcafe in London. I have a vague memory of Tommy mentioning a remix late into the night and fast forward 10 months and here we are... Huge shouts to @supportsystemrecordings for being top chaps too. I found the whole process to be very enjoyable. Ok so it’s called a ‘Threemix’ because I did my cheeky trick of requesting parts from more than 1 track which meant I could cherry pick. As Tommy’s tracks are quite banging MPC house I decided to go on a bit of a deeper, thoughtful journey. Hope you like it. Vinyl should be everywhere today and as ever if you buy off Bandcamp you’re helping the label directly.
