🌾✨ Enter an immersive acoustic sanctuary where light, sound, and contemporary movement converge to honour the fragile balance of our prairie ecosystem. 🎶🤝 A collaboration of Riel Gentlemen’s Choir and Ruah Dance Collective, this interactive installation operates continuously throughout the evening of Nuit Blanche, offering cycles of silent improvisational movement, full choral-dance collaborations, and quiet periods of rest. 🚶‍♀️🌙 Between site-specific performances, follow the collective as they illuminate the night in a procession through the historic streets of the Exchange District. This nomadic migration honours the memory of Blizzard, the beloved white bison who for a time called Winnipeg home, while evoking the historic movement of bison across the prairie. 🦬🤍 💡🌿 Together, the expression brings a quiet, rejuvenating light to concrete urban spaces, a reflection on the gifts of the land, the interconnectedness of our ecosystems and communities, and the responsibility to care for what sustains us. 🕯️✨ Whether you catch a passing procession in an alleyway or sit in quiet contemplation before the glowing hive, expect an immersive public experience that blends artistic wonder with remembrance, reverence, and reflection. Reflections on the first Thursday of Lent♥️ “And if we ponder our destination, perhaps it is to be to the neighborhood of shalom, the neighborhood of shared resources, of inclusive politics, of random acts of hospitality and intentional acts of justice, of fearless neighborliness that is not propelled by greed or anxiety or excessive self-preoccupation… I imagine Lent for you and for me as a great departure from the greedy, anxious antineighborliness of our economy, a great departure from our exclusionary politics that fears the other, a great departure from self-indulgent consumerism that devours creation. And then an arrival in a new neighborhood, because it is a gift to be simple, it is a gift to be free; it is a gift to come down where we ought to be.“ - Walter Brueggemann

B-Sides is coming up THIS SATURDAY (Feb 11)!  Our B-Sides show features the @surfacing.dance pre-professional students, highlights advanced Genesis general program students, and collaborates with local artists. 🌟🌟🌟 This year we are thrilled to share the stage with our special guests, @villageconservatory, @thejanzenboys and The Prairie Dancers! 🎭 🎶💃 Having multiple shows throughout the year provides great opportunities for students to grow in their performance abilities, and pushes them to learn several different pieces throughout the year!  🌟💫✨ The B-Sides show is also an opportunity for students to be inspired in their craft by getting to see the work of professional artists in the local community.  🫱🫲 Overall, B-Sides is a unique and exciting show for students and audience members alike! You won’t want to miss it!  🤗👐👏 Grab tickets online through Eventbrite at the link in our bio!  🔗 🎟️
