If we had a time machine…
We’d go straight back to Soulac-sur-Mer. 🇫🇷🌊

Back to a week of surfing, sunshine, French food, new friends and that wonderful feeling of having absolutely nothing you have to organise.

We joined @surftribefamily with our boys, mainly because we wanted them to learn how to surf.
But somehow, surfing became just one part of the adventure.

Surftribe is a travel concept of @travelbase_ and we’ve honestly never experienced a holiday with such a good mix of activities, freedom and relaxed vibes.

It felt a little bit like a festival. Just one where you wake up by the ocean. 😉
🌊 We surfed. 🛹 We skateboarded. 🏐 We played volleyball. 🍷 We went wine tasting. 💃 We danced at a silent disco. 🎸 We watched a live band.
There was always something happening.

The boys’ favourite? The skateboarding workshop. 🛹 
However, in the end, it weren’t the activities that made this week so special.

It was the people.

The other families. The crew. The kids running around together. The spontaneous dinners and drinks. The feeling that after just a few days, you already knew most of the people around you.

And maybe that’s what we loved most about Surftribe:
It’s a holiday without the holiday admin.

You don’t have to plan every day or figure out what everyone is going to do. You just show up, join whatever feels fun, and enjoy being together. 🫶🏼

Right now, @surftribe is mainly aimed at Dutch families, but we can’t imagine that staying that way for long.
Because if you’re looking for a family holiday that combines adventure, community and a whole lot of fun (without having to organise it all yourself…)
This is one to put on your list.

Would we go again?
Absolutely!

Although… @travelbase_ has quite a few other adventures we haven’t tried yet. 👀

So maybe we’ll see where the next one takes us. 🌍

It feels like so long ago, but can we please go back? 🥹

Salty hair, sandy feet, early mornings, endless beach days and watching the kids find their confidence in the waves. 🏄‍♂️

Slow mornings, surf lessons, ice creams, sunsets and absolutely no idea what day it was… just the kind of family holiday you wish you could bottle up and keep forever.

Already dreaming of the next one. 🌊

Last minute, we decided to escape the Ibiza heat for a while. After a little Instagram influence and a recommendation from the lovely @clairehiensch, we ended up at @surftribefamily in Soulac-sur-Mer. And honestly, what a place.

We booked one week and stayed for two. A little house right on the beach, endless entertainment for the kids and the sweetest surf teachers. Ray and I barely left our beach chairs 😅 Safe to say, we loved it!

We met so many lovely people, and thanks for these great photos @fleurfotografeert ⭐️🫶🏻

The biggest gift of my life is finding someone who keeps trading one life for another with me, over and over.

We left a good, easy life in the city for a random job in the mountains, no plan, no safety net. He got let go within weeks, no fault of his own. We packed the car anyway and traded that mess for the best ski and snowboard instructor jobs in a resort neither of us had heard of a year before.

We left the temptation of a 9-to-5 in the real world for a longboard and a thumb on the highway, hitchhiking our way through a life with no schedule at all, our dog with us from day one, on every ride, every border, every random floor we slept on.

We left the ease of moving fast for a pilgrimage on foot, Pamplona to Lisbon, because walking for weeks straight felt like the right kind of hard.

We left that stretch of freedom that only Europe gives you, no borders to cross, farms to volunteer on, hitchhiking with no plan, living on the beach when we felt like it, backpacks always on our backs, for a whole life in Central America together.

Then an old American schoolbus, shipped across the ocean and turned into a hostel on wheels. We guided our guests splitboarding and touring through Norway by day, then cooked for them, kept them entertained, and drove them to the next spot, a toddler on board through all of it. Home and work were the same 25 square meters.

We left that too, sold it at its peak, traded a business that worked for the uncertainty of not knowing where we wanted to land.

We landed in Åre. And in two weeks we are leaving what has been our home for the last five years for a new one twenty minutes further in, closer to the quiet, closer to the big peaks, trading nomadic freelance chaos for work that challenges us in a whole new kind of way.

New chapter again, and we head in not knowing much of what it will bring. We only know it feels right, and that feeling is something we’ve learned to cherish. When that gut feeling vibrates, one step is enough. Not because we know where it leads, the right direction, I don’t think that exists. Life is a windy path, the most beautiful views right next to the hardest obstacles.
