🌡️𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 #6🌡️ One last dose of September heat from @otto.vlott0 before Berlin slips back into its grey-weather era ☀️ Hailing from New Zealand and based in Berlin, Otto Vlotto is a raver and dancer first, moving freely across 70 to 250+ BPM, from juke, footwork and ghetto house to UK bass, breakcore, gabber and perreo - she calls it ✨ cuntcore ✨ Growing up in Aotearoa, she came up through the local scene, with early influences including nights like Dubstep Alliance Aotearoa. She’s brought her sound to festivals like Bangface and Fusion, as well as parties by Berlin crews Raiders, Widows, Sick Crew and Rise Nights, Das Booty in London, and Juke Bounce Werk in LA. For this one, she taps into her longstanding fascination with SWANA, African and Latin sounds, as well as diaspora producers who use heavy post-dubstep bassweight and atmospheric textures as a foundation for syncopated, percussion-driven rhythms. Footwork remains at the core, reflecting its deep connection to bass music and its influence on producers across the UK and beyond, including the evolution of jungle footwork. Her journey began with UK sound and club culture. She spent a lot of time at Cakeshop in Seoul, where DJs who deeply understood UK music were active at the time. Through their sets she discovered jungle and footwork, and slowly began digging into and playing that music herself. The deeper she went, the more footwork's unique rhythm and energy took over her sets, with jungle right beside it and dub's deep sense of space pulling everything together. Musically, she's been heavily influenced by Phillip D Kick (@om_unit), @sherelle_, and @sunpeople_official. The way they connect footwork, jungle, dub and techno in their own style has been a big inspiration for her own playing. She's also shaped her taste over the years by digging through labels like Moveltraxx, Teklife, and Trekkie Trax. She currently hosts a monthly radio show, Tuna Roll, on VISLA FM. The show explores a range of 160 BPM sounds, centered around tracks with a groove that keeps rolling forward even at high tempos. In the clubs, she plays mainly at Cakeshop and Pistil, and has supported artists including RP Boo, Oyubi and Fetus during their Seoul shows. She also runs deebeeja, a daytime party born from the idea that fast, bass-heavy music hits just as hard in the daytime as it does at night. Recently, she's also begun working on her own productions alongside DJing. It feels good to get this out. This one stitches together a wide range of vocal-heavy 140-160bpm dancefloor heat — techno, juke, ghettotech, neo-perreo, and other stuff I can’t quite describe. I wanted to keep it playful and dynamic, but with an edge that really motivates you to move your ass. The pièce de résistance is the closing track —“Nobody Betta” by @djswisha and @surly_nz released this year on @moveltraxx . I’m not lying when I say that this track has been my whole personality for months. The sheer exuberance I feel when blasting this one is unmatched. Even if you don’t listen to the whole mix, forward to 15 minutes in to catch this track (also available on Bandcamp and all DSPs). Links in bio
