SHATTERED. SCARED. SHOCKED!!!😱😱😱😰

I couldn’t access this account for the last 5 days and I was utterly shattered about it. I literally tried everything. The only glimmer of hope was that I could still see that all my pictures and posts were intact.

A hugeee hugeeeee shoutout to all my friends who understood what this meant to me and tried everything they could to help me. @rajesh_kann for being as worried for me and checking up on me throughout. To @suryasrikkanth for helping me cope and doing everything he can to make sure I get access back. To @shweths27 for being so so sweet and helping me so much (and praying in every temple she went to), To @__s.r.e.e.e__ for always being there and knowing exactly how much this means to me. And to @varun_remella for finally helping me get back into the game. Im at all loss for words to explain how much you guys helped me cope. To all my friends who were as upset as I was, thank you thank you thank you.

I will post on my stories about what happened exactly. Please take note of it so the same thing doesn’t happen to you guys. It was a devastating experience especially because we put our heart and energy and our everything into making this happen. All my fellow creatives, you all know exactly what I’m talking about?! And I want you to know, I missed you all so much!

Disconnect to Connect.

This would be my mantra in the normal world. I would constantly disconnect from all my social media from time to time and completely disconnect to connect with myself. I felt tethered and grounded when I would do this.

But this past year, my sanity and well-being lay in this phone. It became my magic, my fairytale, my prince to the rescue and something that unleashed a creative outlet in me that nothing else could. Isolation taught me about myself. My phone became a powerful weapon for my mind. Move over pen😛. I only felt connected when I had it in hand. My screen time is insanely high. I fear for my eyes. But this is the only way I made it this far.

And once I created my page on Insta, I have become obsessed. Is it unhealthy? Maybe. Definitely. Is it necessary? Yes. Absolutely. Does it keep me sane? It’s saved me.

This is me... being myself, that phone an extension of my hand. Constantly clicking pictures but not uploading even a quarter of them. I’m going to be adding a lot more pictures on my stories, or perhaps, start another page just for all the pictures I’m shooting but don’t think will look apt on this grid. I take myself way too seriously on this blog. I want to start shooting decor (my first love) and little snippets of my home. Things that make my heart happy. Should I go for it? Give me a yay or a naay? I take your comments to heart.

Photography journey...

To be honest, I started this blog page to post the food and desserts I make. What I was cooking so passionately had to translate into my feed. So Photography happened. It doesn’t come naturally to me. I have never held any sort of camera before. Phones were exclusively for selfies or to shoots family pics, taken offhand and thoughtlessly.

But the more I delve into this field, the more ‘captivated’ I am (no pun intended). I have researched the heck out of it. Read a million articles online. And then got my hands on this gem. It’s Bea Lubas “How To Photograph Food” @bealubas

Boy did this book help. It explained everything in the simplest of terms. If you are like me, starting on this journey, please get it. Now!

I am planning to get my first camera real soon. In a way, I was hiding behind my iPhone. I still feel the phone camera is excellent but I need to take this plunge, conquer my fears on handling the complexity of it all and get on with it.

Ps: No, I don’t lounge in aquamarine kaftans reading books like this all day. I have literally been in my trackpants for the last 10 months so it felt glamorous and diva-ish posing like this😛. I needed that. Don’t we all need to draw the war paint on and dazzle?

We have all gotten to know each other a bit more now. For those who don’t, let me introduce myself properly.

I am Supriya Damera, I did my Masters and Mphil in English literature. I love to read and Books are my passion. My second passion is Design. I’m fascinated by Architecture and design. I recently finished a course in Interior Designing. Somewhere, the lines between my design sensibility and food styling blur wonderfully. Food is the hero of my life. I shifted to eating plant based food 10 years back but struggled with it for a while, before I fell back on track and it changed my life. I also love to bake👩🏻‍🍳. Have been for many years now. Baking in the nights, after everyone else is sleeping, the world shrouded with a sense of calm, that’s when I am in a baking fervour. Currently I’m still shooting all my pictures on my iPhone.

I have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and get excited by learning new things everyday. Right now, Photography is soo new and fascinating to me. I dove head on into researching the heck out of it. So either I’m baking or photographing or reading about photography or writing, the entire creative process is exhilarating and tiring but I’m loving it! 🤍🤍

I am a bit quite and reserved. And very very camera shy. I had to push through my anxiety to get these pictures taken. It is mandatory to show the person behind the camera too, right?😁

Trying to cram myself into 2000 words does me no justice, we are all many things besides being real and complex human beings. I want to thank my friends and family who encouraged me and a big huge shoutout to the people who stuck by me no matter what. You are EVERYTHING to me. There are some kindered spirit angels here on IG, who shone their light on me. I revel and thrive in their encouragement n support. Their kindness knows no bounds!!!🧚🏻‍♂️🧚🧚‍♀️

Do you all need a giant big all-enveloping hearty hug that keeps you warm and makes you feel protected?? We all needs those hugs from time to time right. Where before, hugs were for goodbye’s, now we have bid goodbye to those frequent hugs. Irony much!

Anyways... this big breakfast of mine more than compensated for my hugless day. I made it out of gooey brownie cake mix. Yes people, I used a cake mix to make this waffle. Purists, don’t slam me for this one, we all need a quick but extravagant breakfast sometimes. I dipped those waffles into the white chocolate dragon fruit liquid pool of yumminess. And there. All was well in the world again! Who can complain about that!!! 🧇

I feel Powerful today. You want to know why? I feel like the Khalessi holding her dragon eggs, but this woman is one heck of a strong women and kind too. Remember that moment. That is me this morning. Only, I’m holding a dragon fruit. It’s the same thing right? 🤣. Come on! Don’t break my dragonian flights of fancy.

Thing is, this the first time I’m tasting this fruit. Infact I have gone into a fruit overload recently, you will see what I’m talking about in the coming days. Check out my stories to see how I had fun with this image during the editing process. The colour of this fruit ... to die for! I could literally bathe and drown in this colour and stay like this for eternity.

I am a Gemini. Duality is my middle name ♊️. The sign of the twins is strong in me. There are always two opposing forces playing on my thoughts, my heart and my head. One is, when I am in la la land, with breezy rosy thoughts, I play the princess of my castle. Its all rosy, romantic and whimsical.

And then there are the darker forces... creating havoc in my head... days of tornadoes and storms. Dark and mysterious forces at play. But there is so much beauty in darkness too. Do u all agree?

That is going to be a recurrent theme on my page too... the duality of it all. I might even give you all a whiplash. So brace yourselves. It’s not always sunshine, darlings. There will come the storms too. That’s what makes the sun sparkle brighter, and the dark seem all the more alluring.
