@MistacookieJar and I performed at the 2025 @childrensmusicnetwork Conference "Round Robin" a couple months ago in September — and y’all…our song "My Bucket & My Shovel" 🪣 🪏 🏖️ went crazy 🤣 this was our FIRST TIME EVER EVER performing together AND after recording this track in 2023 I feel ummm.....yeah this is pretty much ...HISTORICAL 🤠😁😆

Sharing the stage with my friend and awesome collaborator - the legendary @mistacookiejar was unforgettable...and even though my body was going through it at the conference (I mean seriously...I was hurting... talking leg cramps, severe dehydration, menstrual cramps, headache, hunger, emotional overwhelm… the whole nine. 😩🙏🏽) — but the music took over and we rocked it 🫡🔥You can see I'm not moving too much because my leg kept cramping up 🥴😵‍💫 being the co-chair of this year's conference was exhausting I and rewarding😁....lol

So the room was full of children’s music educators, artists, entertainers and community builders… and when the chorus hit, it was like the whole room magically transformed into children! 🤓🌠🪄🚼

Thank you to my beloved friends for holding us down (during the whole conference) as well as helping make the live performance so fun and elevating it with your vibe!

Q Lynn @ambitious_rhythm kept the beat hot with her bucket drum performance! 🥁

Woody Hill @woodyhill23 was our impromptu disco ladybug with their Stunna shades on floating around with a bucket🤣🪣🐞

Such a joy to make new friends and be reunited with so many wonderful pals at the @childrensmusicnetwork annual conference in Los Angeles!

I was trying to stay present throughout my time and often forgot to take pictures, so most of these are from the very end of conference.

There are many amazing friends, new and not-quite-as-new that I didn’t get a picture with. But, I hold each and every one of my CMN friends in my heart! Such a beautiful, kind, welcoming, inclusive, and talented community, that I am very grateful to be a part of!

Why do you think people write children’s music?

After this weekend at the CMN conference, I’m noticing that its not just because of the 100s of writers talent, teaching experience, or desire to create cultural legacies for our many communities.

I think it might have to do with the way we celebrate our inner child.

Each person truly shined in their unique purpose, joy and play this weekend. And its a reminder that when we get to be free to care for our inner child, we can be more loving and compassionate to the many people in this world.

When Alphabet Rockers says: Be You. We need you. We really mean it!

I left GRAMMY Weekend with such vibrant heart, jumped into tour mode and then to a conference so here comes day #2! The family music breakfast had 90! Makers from our genre. We are working to be a family of inclusion- everyone is welcome and let’s share the shine. Thankful for the leadership @hunktabunkta @singinginspaces @susietallmanmusic who hosted and gave a deep focus to why we gather- and how to support our LA community.

We kept the connection and hosted a karaoke party with @andrewandpolly and @tara_trudel - my hope was that we could have a shared bond of singing together amidst all the networking of the weekend. And wow was it amazing. Keep in mind that karaoke set me free back in 2001. I always wanted to sing and the folks at The Mint San Francisco showed me the LOVE of a karaoke community. I tried to pull off my best Frank (the most epic KJ of all times) and loved all the songs, duets and homages that happened.

I’m deeply reminded how much being a vulnerable and loving person can be just the right way to navigate these times.
