"I STOOD tip-toe upon a little hill,
The air was cooling, and so very still,
That the sweet buds which with a modest pride
Pull droopingly, in slanting curve aside,
Their scantly leaved, and finely tapering stems,
Had not yet lost those starry diadems
Caught from the early sobbing of the morn."
~John Keats

And the mountains echoed in silence.

I walked a mile and found a flower,
That had bloomed to absolute perfection.
The kind that Romeo would pluck and adorn in ribbons,
To practice the art of seduction.

Instead of taking away its life with a swift motion of the hand,
I stared at it with love and pity,
For how can something be so beautiful,
And not be talked about for an eternity?

To my surprise, the flower replied,
"Humankind is insecure, they thrive on violence.
Something as simple as a small flower holds no passion!"
And the mountains echoed in silence.

When Sita was abducted by Ravana, did she marvel at the natural beauty of Lanka? Or did she lie in vain, pining for her lover and God to come to her aid? They say that she was the daughter of Bhūmi, or Earth.. but as she lay isolated under the tree’s shady branches, did she let her circumstances overcome her? Or did her intrinsic roots compel her to sit back, take a moment, and appreciate all that she could see.. and feel?
