There’s many a steep stairwell in the narrow and twisting streets of London that he could take a tumble down.”

The Book Fairies are sharing copies of The Exes by Leodora Darlington throughout the UK today! These have all been left near Brighton seafront, including the Sealife Centre.

Who will be lucky enough to spot one?

About the book:

Natalie chose James carefully, because he’s different from all the men she’d loved before. Calm. Competent. Kind. And there are three very good reasons she needs to be so careful. Their names are Marc, Luca and George. Natalie prefers not to think about what they did to her. Let alone what she had to do to them.

Except now, on a night they are meant to be celebrating how happy they are together, Natalie and James are lying in separate bedrooms.

She is asking herself how she could have been foolish enough to let yet another man hurt her like this.

Slowly, Natalie realises she’s already holding a knife.

But she’s not going to do anything with it.

She’s not. Not again.

About the author:

Leodora has quickly established herself as one of the UK’s most exciting literary voices. She was recently shortlisted for the McDermid Debut Award 2026 and The Exes was selected as a Good Morning America Book Club pick.

“Opening my eyes, I admitted to myself and the world that I was awake.”

The Book Fairies are sharing copies of The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion Volume 1 and 2 by Beth Brower across the UK today!

Who will be lucky enough to spot a bundle? Somewhere near Royal Pavilion Brighton.

About Volume 1:

The year is 1883 and Emma M. Lion has returned to her London neighbourhood of St. Crispian’s. But Emma’s plans for a charmed and studious life are sabotaged by her eccentric Cousin Archibald, her formidable Aunt Eugenia, and the slightly odd denizens of St. Crispian’s.

Emma M. Lion offers up her Unselected Journals, however self-incriminating they may be. Armed with wit and a sideways amusement, Emma documents the curious realities of her life at Lapis Lazuli House.

Who is lucky enough to spot this copy of Tank by Mark Urban, hidden by a book fairy in Meridian Shopping Centre in Havant, outside The Warp?

About the book:

Tanks are the ultimate embodiment of industrial age warfare. In the popular imagination, they represent both a terrifying beast of destruction and a potent symbol of liberation.

The technology behind these war machines has evolved relentlessly, and yet the coming of the
information age has led many to predict that drones, missiles, and Artificial Intelligence have made the tank obsolete. Time and again, however, tanks have continued to shape – and be shaped by — battles around the world, from their introduction in 1916, through the Second World War and tank-on-tank fights in 1990s Iraq, to the current conflict in Ukraine. In TANK, best-selling historian and former officer in the Royal Tank Regiment Mark Urban draws on wide-ranging accounts from soldiers, designers, and politicians, from Winston Churchill to Volodymyr Zelensky, to tell the remarkable story of one of the most important developments in military history.

Through the ten most important vehicles ever made, Urban chronicles the incredible advances in tank technology – starting with the Mark IV, the first British tank to be used in large numbers in WW1, and following the story through the T-34 and Tiger to the M1 Abrams, a product of huge American Cold War investment that is still used to this day.

A book fairy hid a preloved copy of The Woman in The Library by Sulari Gentill on their visit to Havant Library.

Who was the lucky finder?

About the book:

The ornate reading room at the Boston Public Library is quiet-until a woman’s terrified scream shatters the tranquility. Security guards take charge immediately, instructing everyone inside to stay put until the threat is identified and contained.

While they wait for the all-clear, four strangers sitting at the same table pass the time in conversation, and friendships are struck. Each has their own reasons for being in the reading room that morning — it just happens that one is a murderer.

Award-winning author Sulari Gentill delivers a sharply thrilling read, an unexpectedly twisty literary adventure that examines the complicated nature of friendship and shows us that words can be the most treacherous weapons of all.
