@notesofmoss episode 08
📍newlands forest dam / table mountain cpt, sa

newlands dam…this is what i imagine heaven to look like. this was the spot in 2016/17, and everyone who had been there knew it was a special place…i hold a very special place in my heart for newlands & table mountain. this is where i spent many days simply exploring, adventuring, playing. this is where i learned to listen to and trust mother nature, developing the most important relationship i will ever know. included are some more table mountain pics from the archives 📁

this episode features many artists & projects that i’ve really been appreciating recently, sounds that have held me gently as the seasons change / i wind down down from a busy summer. the episode features tracks by @agimat.iha @arrumarmusic @streetchilli @kelela @i7hvn & more…+ an unreleased by me & @elias.ffss that we made for @osmosis__world

BL Radio 2nite on @sutrofm from 9-11PM PST and again on @mutantradiotbilisi this Tuesday. I didn’t have time to get a show together this month, so instead I dug into the vaults and found an old radio show I did back in 2011. Before BL Radio and moving to LA, I had a radio show up in Santa Barbara at @kcsbfm 91.9FM when I was in grad school. I called the show interplanetary.musik and did it for almost 4-5 years. In many ways it was the radio show that got me back into DJing after I had stepped away from it for many years. I played all kinds of music, but for this show I decided to bring my old minimal techno vinyl because people were throwing around this term at the time but it sounded like nothing I remembered from back in the day. It’s not the smoothest or cleanest mix, because at this time the station had no dj mixer and the turntables were in sad shape, as were many of my old records. We only had the radio station mixer, with no eq, no fx, no cross fader, no nothin- I’d have to run from the turntables to the other side of the room and bring the channel up to actually mix lol But I made it work and the track selection turned out to be excellent so I thought I’d share an excerpt of the show. This was also my first 3-hour slot and I decided during this show that I needed to bring in guest djs in order to fill time. Through this I ended up meeting a lot of long time friends such as @force_placement_ @tonyfuze @_sansnom805 @darlabea @alexho____ @effo_arrem and many others. Eventually me and a few other vinyl enthusiasts got the station to fix the tables and buy a dedicated dj mixer. After moving to LA at the end of 2014, me and @force_placement_ linked up again and we started The Black Lodge. Who knew?! Anywho choon in!! 🚀🚀🚀

Today at 11a PST on @sutrofm — this month on The Saturday Morning Comedown, I’ve invited Artist/Producer/Writer/DJ/Host of “All About Our Love” on @nts_radio: @yourveryownhb, to share their vision of the comedown— here’s what they have to say:

“I always feel a wistfulness in knowing that the “high” is behind me — not sure what to do with myself, reluctant to move on, wishing I could stay in the clouds, grasping desperately for what remains of the magic. So for me, the morning after is both grounding and reflection, soothing my melancholy with a gentle descent back into reality and self-care, and an intentional effort to stay perceptive of the calm, ever-present magic that exists in my everyday.”

Tune in on SutroFM.net 💚
