Dream Shoe for the Dream Race! 👟⛰️

Yesterday’s recovery protocol took us on a long walk through Century City and Intaka Island before heading straight into Canal Walk to visit my home club, the Asics Run Club.

When it comes to the biggest milestones of my running journey, @asics has always been my weapon of choice:

• 2020: First proper running shoes (Gel-Nimbus) and for my first marathon in 2021 @capetownmarathon

• Road Racing: Metaspeed Sky (won at @fullsend.running).

• First Ultra-Trails: Conquered on Asics Gel-Trabuco 11, Fuji Lite 5 & Fuji speed.

Naturally, for my inaugural @capecobratrail Marathon and my longest challenge ever, the @utct 100 Miler, there was only one answer. Tested the Trabuco Max 5 against the Trabuco 14, and the 14 took the crown! Ready to put them to the ultimate test this Saturday at Cape Cobra🐍

A massive thank you to Chevonne and the team at Asics Canal Walk for the warm home-club reception, and big appreciation to @worldstageentertainment, principal partner of my #IRCRoadToTrail Grand Slam campaign, for sponsoring this race shoe purchase and fueling the dream 🌐

Beautifully hard, passionately suffering, by choice.

As with most things in life, UTMB has come and gone, and we move on. Though, when I look through some of the images from the loop around Mont Blanc, I felt a need to share a bit more of what this run meant to me.There were mostly dark times, but they didn't last forever.

The greatest ultra lesson that I have learned and keep on learning is that just as the dark times don't last forever, so the good times also comes to an end. In essence the sun has to give way to the night, but so the night also ends thanks to the sun.

So when things are bleak, know that it is not permanent, though when things are well, remember to savor it, but do save some energy for when life gets wild again. As that is inevitable, guaranteed and necessary.

Thus I find solace in the idea that it's not only well-being that is good for us, but that suffering is a fundamental part being human. In fact, isn't suffering as much in our interest as well-being being?

This you will know to be true if you have lived at all (or have run an ultra, which is simply a proxy for life anyway 😉)

Abandon you Fears, Embrace the Mountains...for these are the wild places, and we are the Wild Ones!

There will be one more "wild run" for 2026, and I couldn't be more excited! 🏔🦅

A week in running shoes. 👟

Some runs are fast.💨
Some are slow. 🐌
Some feel effortless.💪
Others humble you. 🫠

But every single kilometre has a purpose.

From Zone 2 to Zone 5, we’re building endurance, developing speed and teaching our bodies to become stronger, faster and more efficient.

Week after week. Kilometre after kilometre, we’re building engines.🔥

The early mornings, the heavy legs, the laughs, the sweat and the people who make the hard work so much more enjoyable.

The goal? Run faster, build a bigger engine and show up at our next Hyrox with a whole lot more in the tank! 🔥

Day 2 of 100 km. My hips are pounded, so today I fixed them. 🦵

Yesterday I told you about the Cape 100. 100 km, Hermanus to Stellenbosch, 5 Sep 2027. After a 17 km long run my hips and upper legs were screaming, so today wasn’t about running. It was mobility.

No fancy kit. Just a mat, some time, and being honest that if I skip this stuff, the 100 doesn’t happen.

Slow, boring, unglamorous. But this is the work nobody films.

If your hips hurt after long runs, tell me what helps you. I’m taking every tip. 👇

Follow along, I’m documenting the whole build. 🏃‍♂️

Confidence underwater isn’t born—it’s built.

Every skill we practice in the PADI Open Water Course serves a purpose. By mastering the fundamentals early on, you create the muscle memory to handle the unexpected calmly and safely.

A strong foundation gives you the confidence to truly relax and enjoy every moment under the surface. 🌊🐙🐠🤿

Running has taught me that the biggest race isn’t against anyone else it’s against the person I was yesterday. 🏃🏽‍♂️🔥

Every kilometre has a story. The good runs, the difficult ones, the days when my legs felt heavy, and the days when I surprised myself. Every step has reminded me that progress doesn’t happen overnight it happens when you keep showing up.

From struggling through my first kilometres to completing my first 15K, I’ve learned that limits are often just temporary boundaries waiting to be pushed.

I’m not chasing perfection. I’m chasing progress.
I’m not trying to be better than someone else. I’m trying to become better than I was yesterday.

One run. One kilometre. One step at a time. 🏃🏽‍♂️💨

The journey continues. ❤️‍🔥
