Happy New Year!! 💫

Looking back - this year was a big one. I launched Strong Taxidermy shortly after turning 26 in May and the rest of the year just got crazy. I made new friends, reconnected with old ones, spent time exploring and birding, did so much restoration work, accepted my first clients, and had some pieces on display in my city. This year was full of birds: birding, study skin prep, and so so SO much taxidermy. I even got to work on some bugs towards the end of the year 🦋 And don’t you worry - there is so much more to come this year.

I want to thank everyone for their endless support. My gratitude for you all in my first year of business knows no bounds, so I want to thank everyone in my incredible community for being there! I’m so glad I get to continue to do what I love and share the joy of preserving nature. Seriously, I couldn’t have done any of this without all of you (sorry I tagged so many people, but this is just a small sampling of the amazing people in my life).

Let’s slay 2026 together everyone ✨🎉

American kestrel (Falco sparverius) before and after restoration for @sfvaudubon 🦅

Sometimes taxidermy pieces just need a little bit of TLC and clean up. This particular friend needed pest treatment, a deep dusting, some re-grooming, painting, and some feather patching. I did a few other restoration pieces for this Audubon, so I’ll be sharing some more restoration work 😊

Welcome to The Art & Ecology Studio by Viola Gardens: a living tapestry where art, ecology, and design converge in permaculture in action. Rooted in over 17 years of ecological design, this collaborative community sanctuary serves as a practice: cultivating imagination, nourishing connection, and regenerating relationship between people and the Earth.

Here, winding paths lead through demonstration gardens, pollinator habitat, native plantings, regenerative building elements, and embodied creative spaces: each element weaving the story of interconnection across soil, human, and spirit.

Now as an offical 501(c)(3) nonprofit, The Art & Ecology Studio invites you to become a sustaining member: a partner in this living embodiment of ecology and local culture. Join us in co-creating the future we long for: beauty + resilience + reciprocity.
