What an incredible day!
My heart is so full after the successful Grand Opening of the Lean On Me Day Program Center! I have so many people to thank and so much to share about yesterday, but this gal is emotionally and physically exhausted, in the very best way. ❤️

I couldn’t resist sharing this quick video for everyone who wasn’t able to make it. We missed you, and I hope this gives you a little glimpse into what we’ve been building with so much love.

Bennett and I are now scheduling tours so please reach out if you know someone who would love to be part of a community-focused day program. Our center offers a welcoming place to create, exercise, decompress, enjoy lunch together, and participate in a variety of classes, music, and art therapy led by talented professionals.

I’m beyond grateful for my amazing circle of community supporters who are passionate about making the world a better place by sharing their creative gifts. After all, we all have a little creativity in us, right? 🎨🎶💙

Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us, encouraged us, volunteered, and believed in this dream. This is only the beginning, and I can’t wait to share more with all of you! 🥰 Susette van der Beek-Afu #lifeisajourneynotadestination #womensupportingeachother #dayprogram #communitysupport #InclusionInAction InclusionMatters lomadp loma

My little brother isn’t so little anymore 🥹 from taking him everywhere when he was a baby to naming my son after him & now seeing him graduate. Ugh where has the time gone. We love you uncle Tele! Go and be great! 🤍

Great to see so many neighbors and friends at caucus night. We had a presence at five locations, reconnected with familiar faces, and met many new ones. Looking forward to getting to know the delegates over the next five weeks. Thank you to my awesome volunteers who showed up tonight!!

At Lean On Me Day Program we’ve started a friendly competition! 🏆 The challenge: who can choose to swim or exercise at the rec center and stick with it. 🏊‍♀️💪

LOMA wants to give a big THANK YOU to the Gene Fulmer Recreation Center for being so inclusive and kind to our group. We truly appreciate you! 👏🏼

This is your sign to go swimming, friends! 🏊‍♀️ #inclusionmatters #dayprogramlife #loma

One thing I will always be proud of is what happened when our Lean On Me Agency day program clients heard that the funding that helps them receive the support they need to live productive, fulfilling lives despite their disabilities might be cut. They also learned that their friend Bryton and others like him might have to wait even longer for services because proposed budget cuts could stop movement on the waitlist.
They didn’t sit back. They sprang into action.
First, they organized a poster making party at the library. They went shopping for supplies, gathered together, and got to work creating signs that spoke from their hearts.
Then they asked, “What else can we do?”
When I told them about a Disability Advocacy Day rally at the State Capitol, they wanted in! They showed up proudly
with signs that read things like
“No HCBS Cuts — I Love My Life”
and
“Love, No HCBS Cuts” “Nothing About Us Without Us”
they joined a parade and rally around the fountain at the Capitol, standing up for themselves, their friends, and everyone who depends on these services.
I have never been prouder of these young people. Their courage, their voices, and their willingness to stand up for their community remind me every day why this work matters so much.

Lean On Me Agency’s first client Halloween party was a smashing success as one of our clients commented! The party was planned & hosted by a couple of our clients & our fearless leader @svanderbeek1 made their vision come to life. Social gatherings can be awkward & scary for neurodivergent individuals so seeing them let loose & enjoy a party that they planned was a beautiful thing to see. #autismwontstopus #inclusionmatters #inclusion #loma #halloween
