St. Pancras.
That’s the song.

The first time I heard it, I just stopped. It caught me off guard with its whispers.

It didn’t sound like it was trying to impress anyone.
Or be commercial.
Or prove anything.

It was just exquisitely beautiful. It sounded like what someone would write just because they liked it.

So I went down a rabbit hole.
Everything they play is unassuming yet perfect.

The artists are @svaneborgkardyb . And I start looking for interviews to learn about how does music like this come about, and get this… they had each played in numerous bands for work, but got together on their day off to make “the music that they liked just for themselves.” I had totally guessed it, just by the sound!!

And somehow, that became this.

I think that’s why it moves me.

The artist who makes the thing they feel compelled to make.
Not the thing crafted to sell.
Not the thing that they can explain.
The thing that tickles their soul.

And maybe somebody else loves it too.

Maybe it even sells anyway.
Maybe that’s a fairytale.
But in this case, it’s real.

What happens when we make what brings our own spirits to life?

So, fellas — what would you say a dance x music x film collab? I have a whole host of ideas ✨

🗓 Sabato 7/11 dalle 19.30
📍 Baumhaus, via Barozzi 3/P (BO)
🎟 No tessera – prevendite su DICE (link in bio)

The September edition of Tuscan Junk Food, the show I produce for my mate, the composer & music producer @_bensontaylor, for the LA-based station Dublab, is available to listen to online. Please click the link in the bio to listen.

The show features the usual jumble of excellent new and older genre-fluid music from a diverse group of brilliant artists.

This is our 40th edition of TJF and to mark the landmark we are featuring an artists’ full album for the first time. The record in question is the wonderful album by @richard.bundy & @annaphoebemusic on @francescastle_photos brilliant @claypipemusic_francescastle label entitled From the Edge - “a body of work that reimagines and quietly subverts the accepted narrative of this UK coastal border town.”

It’s a fantastic concept album digging deep into the town’s rich history and I played it x3 back to back when I first heard it. The mix begins with Immersion and ends with Unspiralling the Rock.

In between there’s tribute to William Orbit, more from @surfacepressure & @hanna_tuulikki excellent Echo in the Dark LP using bat echolocation sounds, as well as new music from Tommy Perman & @a_wasylyk & from the prolific @lauracannellmusic & @immersion_hq @keelinmusic features twice with collaborations with @svaneborgkardyb & with @thedurutticolumnofficial and a new project from @sjbuckers as well new material from a forthcoming album by the excellent @vanishingtwinmusic and more from @davida.jaycock recent and very wonderful Children of the Cold War: Phase 7 album, plus more besides.

Check out all the various releases on all the usual platforms and retailers.

It’s hard to believe we have reached 40 editions, but it is a joy putting these mixes together, and if you get a chance to listen, I really hope you enjoy it. As ever, a massive thanks goes out to all the wonderful artists whose work is featured this month.

Be kind and stay safe! 🙏🙌💚
