Good Morning Joanne

First play of my senior year at Stella! Out of the three plays I did, this one was my favorite. Funny thing is—I only had about three scenes or so. But those three scenes taught me everything. I got to work alongside people with incredible work ethic and deep respect for teamwork. Life is teamwork. If you think otherwise, you’re mistaken—no one is meant to do it alone.

Joanne taught me not to think small. She showed me that even three scenes, one line, one moment can shift the entire story. Value everything. God works in my life the same way—He often gives me small beginnings and then watches how I steward them.

In this play, I had the joy of being directed by the brilliant Beth Anne Leone. She’s incredibly petite, yet she carries the presence of someone 20 feet tall. Her patience, her unmatched eye for detail—she turned a simple school theater into something miraculous. Her words and leadership left a mark on me forever. She reminded me that my gifts are powerful, one of a kind, and never meant to be duplicated—or smothered by me. 🙌🏽.
Team (meaning you who are reading) — you are unmatched. The Lord made each of us divinely different. Never shrink yourself to fit in or chase a trend. Take up the space God orchestrated for you. As for me, I never want to be anywhere God didn’t send me.

After perhaps one of the busiest summers of my life, here are some highlights from both productions I directed with the New York Theater Festival! I’m thankful for these incredibly talented teams who joined me in tackling hefty themes like sex work, suicide, & gun violence (to name a few) and look forward to working together again someday 🫶✨
