POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Four years after Hurricane Ian, there is still a very clear before and after for so many of us.

Our children witnessed loss and uncertainty, but they also witnessed something extraordinary: a community coming together, helping one another, and rebuilding piece by piece.

The reminders of Ian are still all around us. But so are the reminders of resilience, strength, and the people who carried our community forward.

Behind every business is a dream that was nurtured for years. Behind every product, service, or experience is someone who chose to invest in their community, take a leap of faith, and build something meaningful. From the very beginning, we’ve hoped The Summer House would be more than a boutique—it would be a place that celebrates those stories and the people behind them.

Today, we’re so excited to introduce Small Business Spotlight, a series devoted to sharing the local businesses that inspire us. Our hope is that these stories encourage you to discover someone new, shop locally, and continue investing in the neighbors who make our corner of the world such a wonderful place to call home.

Our first spotlight couldn’t be more fitting.
Founded by my mother-in-law, Sarah Waldau, WayPath Academics (@waypath_academics) was created with the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to feel confident in their abilities. Through individualized academic support, WayPath meets students where they are, helping them strengthen not only their skills, but also their confidence, curiosity, and love of learning. The work they do reaches far beyond academics—it equips children with tools they’ll carry long after they leave the classroom, creating a ripple effect that touches families and our community alike.

During our Grand Opening Weekend, we were honored to partner with WayPath for a special giveaway celebrating two small businesses rooted in the same belief: that investing in people is always worthwhile. We have randomly selected a winner and will reach out via DMs to award our recipient their giveaway prize!✨

Thank you to everyone who continues to support local businesses. Every visit, every recommendation, every purchase, and every kind word helps keep these dreams alive.

Here’s to celebrating the people behind the businesses—and to many more stories to come! Discover more about Waypath academics via their social media profiles and website, linked to this post!🤍

National English Honors Society Book Club are combining efforts for a book drive. Currently, Friends of Foster Children are in need of new or gently used books for the sixth through twelfth grades. If you have any novels (or actually any genre of books) for this age range that you would like to donate, please let me know. You can bring the books to Mrs. Sheehan’s classroom or the Dropbox in the US commons. Donations will be accepted until May 15. #changeachildsstory #bookdrive #friendsoffosterchildren #donate #cburyproud #canterburyfortmyers #canterburyschool #canterburyschoolfortmyers #bookclub #nehs #bookswanted

Our joy over the new lunch was so intense that I couldn’t hold the camera still. I’m not ashamed at all that I am 37 years old and took a selfie with a rice krispey treat. #canterburyfortmyers #sagedining #sagerocks #sageforthewin #cbury #firstdayofschool #lunchbuddy #partnersincrime #yum

Congratulations to Max Waldau for signing with Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.

Max is the 1st Keeper in SWFL to play for an Ivy School in over 10 years. What an honor.
On the field he is a dynamic goal keeper that has great length, size, and overall technical ability. Max is an communicator, makes good decisions when in dealing with balls in the air, and has the technical ability with the ball at his feet... which is essential for GK’s in today’s game.
Overall, he is a leader on and off the field demonstrating and modeling the importance of being a STUDEN /ATHLETE.
Max has trained with Stovi Stars in our GK division since 2013 under GK Coach and Showcase team assistant coach LARRY LOLLAR. He knew from day 1 he would be something amazing!

The next video is an interview on his experience with the showcase team.
The recruiting plan was simple for Max as he had his sights set on a few options. We helped connect some of the “dots” in the running dialogue with each school. His biggest challenge was competing with fellow teammate and high school Champion, Seba Jimenez, for playing time. This really pushed Max to be the best version of himself. He put in a lot of hard work from day one, and now he is on his way to play for a college that will impact him the rest of his lift.
Max will enter Brown this fall to battle for the #1 Gk position right away so he has a new goal now. GOOD LUCK!

Max is 1 of the 13 Showcase players to sign with a college in 2018.
Once again it takes a village to make all this happen. Max played for Lee County Strikers, Florida Fire, GPS, and finished up at Azzuri Storm on our Stovi Stars showcase team. Not to forget mention his high school Coach at Canterbury (shoutout to Mick Whitewood). This is a testament to the talent that is in SWFL. #bettertogether
