POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Friday night, 60 Dungeon Crawler Carl fans raced for the stairwell. 🍒

The costumes were incredible, the guest authors played chaos agents, Wonderwall played, and the laughter carried down the hallway! One team won by bribing the system. Epic. (You can see the Dirty Shirley bowl.)

In between challenges, fans shared what they love about these books: found family, sacrificing for others, and resilience. Such a fun night!

Thank you to everyone who crawled with us, to @gnollsloottable for co-hosting, to Ben Wolf and Seth McDuffee for the chaotic good, to ICON for welcoming us, and to the 11 Iowa indie bookstores behind #DCCLocalLoot.
Support your local booksellers! 📚

Stay tuned: only 6 tickets are left for our Nov 14 event at floor314.com 🏰

Overheard at last night’s @hazelbeckauthor signing “You’d have to leave the murder house, to walk outside into the murder darkness, to use the murder outhouse- no thank you!” (in regards to the Villisca Axe Murder House- though that would be a great line in the next book 👻) #spookyseason

Basically we think that all of our events should take place in haunted houses filled with so many delightful readers, under an almost-full moon, with the dream team of Jenn from @heabookboutique and Terri from @swampfoxbookstore to not only sell books and keep the conversation flowing, but to make us laugh that hard and show us more of Marion’s utterly charming uptown. We love coming back here every year!

Thank you all SO MUCH for coming out last night and celebrating SOME KIND OF HAUNTED with us! Particularly thanks to Vicki of @grangerhouse for introducing us to the ghostly family in residence 👻 What a phenomenal night!!
