Swatch Automatic — 19 Jewels Here’s a fun twist in Swatch history. Swatch helped revive the Swiss watch industry in the 1980s by making inexpensive, colorful quartz watches that people wanted to collect. Then the company did something wonderfully unexpected: it brought mechanical watchmaking into the mix. In 1991, Swatch introduced its Automatic collection, bringing traditional self-winding movements to a brand that had built its reputation on quartz technology. This one takes that mechanical heritage and wraps it in a design that looks like a map of the universe. Flip it over and there’s a 19-jewel Swiss automatic movement looking right back at you. Proof that Swatch has never been particularly interested in following the rules. Pace Setter Watches

Omega × Swatch MoonSwatch — Mission to the Moon 🌕 The world of affordable hype collab watches. As someone who loves astronomy, science, and watches, I completely understand why the MoonSwatch became such a phenomenon. The concept works, the Speedmaster design is iconic, and Mission to the Moon is probably the closest to the classic Moonwatch look. That said, it’s important to judge it for what it is. Yes, it says Omega. No, it isn’t an Omega. It’s a Swatch. The Bioceramic case is extremely light and definitely feels affordable, the quartz seconds hand is noticeably loud, and I’m not a big fan of the Velcro strap. But visually, I really like it. The classic Speedmaster design translates surprisingly well, and details like the Moon battery cover and planetary packaging make the whole collaboration fun. Was the hype bigger than the actual watch? Absolutely. Do I understand the hype? Absolutely. It isn’t an Omega for Swatch money. It’s a Swatch celebrating Omega, and I think that’s exactly why it works. #moonswatch #missiontothemoon #omegaxswatch #speedmaster #omega

Swatch Zapping by Nam June Paik. Nam June Paik famously coined the term “electronic super highway” in 1974 to predict the interconnected future of media and telecommunications. Swatch leveraged this tech-forward reputation by utilizing their unique MusiCall line for the partnership. Instead of a regular quartz watch, it houses a built-in speaker and mechanical chime. This allowed Paik to merge his history as a classical musician and audio-visual artist into a wearable device that literally buzzed with electronic sound. The Remote Control Box The watch was sold in a limited-edition presentation box styled exactly like a vintage television remote control. This thematic container rounded out Paik’s artistic commentary on humanity’s relationship with modern electronic mediums.

#MoonSwatch #MissionToTheMoon #Swatch #Omega #Speedmaster Moonwatch WatchCollector WatchCommunity Relojes WatchesOfInstagram WatchLovers Horology
