It’s Easter Sunday and death has been defeated, the tomb is empty & the power of the cross is stronger now than it ever has been.

We continue to miss Camp with every holiday, special occasion & family picture. But, we are so thankful to have this first Easter with our sweet Cager.

Happy Easter! Jesus is alive! ✝️🙌🏼

Because He lives I can face tomorrow.
I’ve worn glasses since I was 5 and there’s no evidence that I will ever get rid of them. I have to choose to put them on every morning if I’m going to see the world around me. In this world, we make a choice in every situation. We choose how we will look it, how we will view ourselves and those we love in light of the situation. Unlike a medical prescription for glasses, we can choose our lenses in life. What kind of lenses are you choosing to look through in your life? Despair or hope? Easter is the day that gives us the lenses of hope.

Most mothers aren’t ending their Easter festivities at the cemetery, but I am. I have to choose to not look through the lenses of despair. When I visit Camp’s grave or do my best to walk through another holiday without him, I have to make sure I strap on my hope goggles. I have to CHOOSE to put them on. Easter is the day that gives me the assurance to know that when I stand in front of Camp’s grave, I’m looking at an empty grave just as Mary Magdalene looked at an empty tomb.

Camp joined Jesus in heaven at the moment that he took his last breath here on earth. Jesus defied death and the grave when he came out of the borrowed tomb and fulfilled His promise to us. Jesus’ tomb was a temporary grave & this world is our temporary home.

There aren’t any egg hunts or chocolate bunnies at the cemetery. There’s no prize eggs, matching pastel outfits or baskets full of goodies, but there is a promise of tomorrow. When I visit the grave of my precious 2 year old son, I see eternity. Every time I look at that granite slab, I remember the stone that was rolled away from Jesus’ tomb. Death will come for each of us, and so will eternity. We don’t get the choice rather we die or not, but we do get to choose where we will spend eternity. And while we wait on eternity, we choose the lenses we will use to look at our life.

Jesus gave His life so I could live, and so that I can have the hope of eternity. Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. It’s all because of Jesus I’m alive…physically, emotionally and spiritually. Happy Easter & Happy HOPE day! 🎗💙✝️ #CancerMom #MoreThan4 #HesAlive #ResurrectionD

💙Each year, for the past 2 years, this night in particular has been hard. On the night of our annual patriotic service at church in 2016, I was dressed in my red, white and blue sitting in the emergency room. That afternoon I was dressed and ready to come perform, sing my solo, celebrate our freedom, enjoy the music and go home to my family. Instead, I was sitting in a hospital hearing the worst news of my life. I was hearing that my precious, innocent baby boy had a brain tumor. 🇺🇸
I was told to go home, pack a bag and get ready to fly to Memphis. In that instant my life turned upside down and everything I knew as normal in my life flew out the window of that jet plane.
♥️
While Camp was in treatment at St. Jude, we met people from all over the world. I met Mothers that didn’t have the medical care or the freedoms that I have here in America. Each of those situations reminded me again how blessed I am to have the freedoms we have.
💙
Now, 2 years later, I’m dressed in my red, white and blue again wishing I had a little 4 year old boy in the congregation to worry about and make sure he was sitting still and quite while the performance went on. ♥️
Instead, I’m still a grieving mother that wishes that terrible night 2 years ago had never happened.
Now, more than ever, I’m thankful for my freedom. I’m thankful that I live in a country where I can share Jesus with those around me. I’m thankful that I can devote my life’s work to a ministry that I feel so passionately about. I’m thankful that I have the freedom to shake hands with and talk to elected officials about childhood cancer and the need for a cure. 🇺🇸
Freedom doesn’t come free, it comes at great cost. Ultimately because I have been forgiven and set free by the blood and sacrifice of Jesus, I will see Camp in heaven again one day.
💙
Thank you, Jesus, for your free gift of salvation that you offer to anyone who will receive. Thank you to the men and women who defend and protect our country each day to make sure we keep our freedoms in America. Today, and everyday, I’m thankful that I’m forgiven and free! ♥️🇺🇸💙 #MoreThan4 #ChildhoodCancerAwareness #CampgroundMinistries #FreedomIsNotFree
