Went as a customer for a fun shoot and somehow got asked to stay on as a model 🥹💙

At 43, I never thought they’d pick little old me 😂 — especially as anyone close to me knows I can be pretty insecure about how I look. I’ve never done anything like this before, so it was definitely outside my comfort zone!

But I’m SO glad I said yes. What an experience! 💙

The lovely team at @rockonrubyltd made me feel so comfortable, and @nataliehones and @rosiewoodsphoto were absolutely brilliant 🤩

And a little shout-out to the lovely ladies I met along the way, @jeni_stringer @the_manc_family @elsies_expeditions @rubes_brooker @charlottecoooper @jillf_46 @willaandbo @sweetiesal 💙 It was so lovely meeting you all and sharing the experience together!

I honestly had the best time!

A little reminder to myself to get out of my head, stop overthinking and NEVER EVER STOP BEING SILLY. 🥹💙

We invited 9 customers to come and model for us for the day, mostly because we thought it would be fun to meet some of the people who support ROR and give them a bit of a treat. ❤️💃🪩🤩

What we didn’t expect was for the day to become more than that…

A few of the girls told us they nearly wouldn’t have put themselves forward. That it was completely out of their comfort zone. One just thought, “why not?” and another said her dad, Dave, would’ve told her to go for it. 🥰

Then afterwards, the messages started coming in… 🥹

About confidence boosts. Doing something they’d never normally do. Meeting a room full of lovely women. And being glad they’d said yes.

So this post isn’t really about our photoshoot at all.

It’s your reminder that sometimes the best things happen when you do the thing you nearly talked yourself out of.

Apply for it. Go on your own. Put your name forward. Wear the thing. Book the trip. Say yes. 🙌

Or, as we’re now calling it around here… be more Dave. ❤️

Meet the customers who accidentally became our models… 👀📸❤️

For our latest shoot, we decided to do something a little different and invite people from our ROR community to come and model the collection with us! 🙌

No professional modelling experience. No casting brief. Just a GORGEOUS bunch of women who were up for giving it a go. ✨

And because a photo only tells you so much, we asked them the really important questions too… Like:

Coffee or cocktails? 🍹
Romance or thriller? 🫣
Summer or winter? ☀️
And, obviously, what song is getting you straight onto the dancefloor? 🪩

Remember when we asked if anyone fancied being in our Christmas shoot? 👀🎄

Well, here’s the brave people who actually said YES! 🙌

We’ve done loads of photoshoots over the years, but this one felt really different.. 💕

We spend so much time talking to you all online that we thought… why don’t we actually invite some of you into it? 🤷‍♀️

So we asked members of our Small Biz community to come along to our Christmas shoot.

There was a moment where we thought, maybe if we get 3 or 4 people, that might be nice?! Then somehow we had over 200 comments of people interested in coming… 🫣

We ended up with a totally random group of fabulous ladies ✨

One of them creates content all the time, some had literally never stood in front of a professional camera before.

And I think that’s what made the photos so good.

This is who wears Rock On Ruby 🤩🫶

There was prosecco, cake, a LOT of outfit changing… and honestly it was just such a fun day.

So now we’re thinking… maybe this shouldn’t be a one-off?!

We did something a bit different on our Christmas shoot this year… 👀📸

Instead of just turning up, shooting the collection and heading home, we invited a group of fabulous ladies from our ROR community to come and be part of it with us ❤️

(I’m not going to lie, this idea basically snowballed from a random comment on Stories… 😆🫣 but WOW - zero regrets!!)

No one (us included!) had done anything like this before, so naturally there was a lot of:

“is this ok?”
and
“WHAT DO I DO WITH MY HANDS?!” 😂

There was prosecco, cake, outfit changes, plenty of laughing and a LOT of trying not to look awkward in front of the camera 😅

It was honestly such a GORGEOUS day and so surreal to have actual members of the ROR community wearing the clothes, rather than just seeing us banging on about them all the time 😂

We’ve got LOADSSSSS of behind-the-scenes bits to show you…

…and then we’ll reveal the proper photos very soon 👀❤️

This might surprise you, but I actually don’t love getting my photo taken 📸😂 (crazy as a content creator right?!)

BUT I am getting better at being comfortable in front of the camera and I absolutely loved my shoot last week with @rockonrubyltd ❤️❤️ the vibe was gorgeous, the girls were all gorgeous and the clothes were unreal ❤️

Did you spot what my bag says - ‘coffee, fizz & red wine’ on leopard print, could it be more me?

Don’t ever stop being silly 💕 thanks so much for having me @rockonrubyltd and take this as your reminder to say yes to things that might scare you ❤️

What a week! ❤️

Throwback to Thursday, when I had the absolute pleasure of modelling for Rock On Ruby 🤘

It was such a surreal experience — I met the most amazing people, and Holly & Graham from Rock On Ruby are just the loveliest. ❤️♦️

Being me, I spent so much time chatting that I completely forgot to take any videos or photos! 🙈😂 Huge thanks to @jeni_stringer for letting me share the group shot she took.

“Never stop being silly!” 🤪

Of course, I had to put it to the test by being silly outside the Co-op, in front of a picture of carrots. Why wouldn’t I? 😂🥕
