The Heart of this region was on display yesterday. People came together across ages, race, and political spectrum. We are learning the ways to take action. First step: COMMUNITY.
Once you meet people and begin to share your stories, something synergistic happens.
Impact becomes greater. We are supported in our efforts and our struggles.

From the Skate Park win to the data center moratoriums in surrounding counties, we have been heard. The tipping point of awareness and action has been reached and now we must continue to show up, put on the pressure, educate ourselves and others, and demand ONGOING transparency and accountability.

This is exactly how you make change.

Everyone was so welcoming to each other yesterday. Some of us are just getting our hands dirty, while some have been showing up and demanding justice on all fronts.

Thank you to the ones who’ve been holding it down and who welcome the newcomers. Thank you to the newcomers for getting out there and wanting to be part of something.

Coming together across counties is how we make our voices be heard on a state level and beyond.

We are South of the Capitol, but that doesn’t mean we will be forgotten. That does not mean we are “out of the way.”

It means you will hear us from allll the way down here!

Thank you Adam Jeus Inyang and the rest for putting this together.

Looking forward to more of these engaging events for our community members.

Long week for me.

Starting senior year Wednesday, and ending the week with some good music for good people.

I’ll be hanging out with my friends from Dirt Road Sports in downtown Albany for Fridays on the Flint and at Harvest Moon for a double header Friday night.

Saturday Morning I will be joined by my friend Evan Barber at Tift Park. Later that night we’ll be hanging out at Pretoria Fields for a chill night of acoustic guitar.

It would be depressing for yall to miss any of these, come out and be somebody.

I’ve been sitting on this video for weeks. Not because I forgot about it but because life has been relentless.

Car troubles. My laptop broke. Trying to get to every corner of this state without either one. Campaigning is not for the weak, and I mean that with everything in me. But God has made a way every single time, and I am so grateful.

This video takes me back to Albany. I drove down the night before a community meeting and woke up to something I didn’t expect. The Fawoodie Cultural Center was hosting their biannual ancestral cultural event and I was blessed enough to have been invited. It was one of the most beautiful things I have ever witnessed. The talent, the spirit, the community. I felt honored just to be there.

This performance by Cassandra Wright Thomas felt like it came straight up from the soil. I don’t even know if I can fully describe it. The soul in her voice as she sang What Be More Down South Than the Blues. My phone died before the second performance and I’m still not over it, because it was just as incredible.

That evening, the community meeting was just as powerful. Real people, real concerns, real engagement. They didn’t have to acknowledge me but they did. They asked me questions. They embraced me. That’s what this is all about.

And last night, we closed out the voter registration period with our comedy fundraiser. To everyone who showed up and showed out, thank you. Eternally.

We keep going. 🙏🏽 la lucha sigue.
