Fourth stay at @thedorianhotel and I just keep finding new reasons to come back!! A big one for me will always be the aesthetic. If you love taking photos while traveling there are SO many beautiful little corners here. But beyond how pretty it is it’s all the thoughtful little details that make staying here feel special. The rooms are genuinely stocked with things you didn’t even realize you’d want until you find them a steamer, @aesop products, the most unbelievable mint vanilla lip balm, even a little silk glasses cleaner. It’s those tiny touches for me. This time I asked the front desk to help me plan a few things to do around Calgary and they absolutely understood the assignment. @trixiemattel for @calgarypride & we went Y2K/vintage shopping at @sweetlikevtg Sweet Like, had an unreal brunch surrounded by plants at @maven_yyc , and then drove only about 20 minutes to @cobbsexoticanimalrescue , which might have been the highlight of the entire weekend. Getting up close with so many incredible animals, including capybaras, kangaroos, anteaters, emus, porcupines, a sloth and the sweetest baby wallabies, was such a cool experience….especially knowing the animals are cared for there through rescue and conservation efforts. 🥹 And mornings at The Dorian obviously included coffee + pastries downstairs at @prologuedaybar Prologue Café ☕️ I loved that this trip really showed how The Dorian can be the starting point for an entire Calgary weekend. Stay somewhere beautiful and ask the team where to explore, head out for the day and come back to a room you genuinely want to spend time in. Where can 17th Ave take you? 👀   On Tuesday, we invited a few locals to find out.   We filled macarons, tasted tea, shopped some vintage, discovered our colours, got our skin analyzed, sipped Vietnamese coffee, ate some incredible food, and somehow fit it all into one very walkable evening. ❤️   Four stops, four completely different experiences, and a few new favourite places discovered along the way.   That’s one of our favourite things about 17th Ave. You can start with absolutely no plan and end up somewhere you never expected.   A huge thank you to Ollia Macarons & Tea, Sweet Like Vintage, Unique Bunny, and Golden Bell for welcoming us in and sharing a little bit of what makes your businesses so special, and to our creators for coming along for the adventure!   Want to see everything we got up to?
