I’m sorry, did someone say the floors came from a Cartier boutique in Paris? I’m looking at this house in Rancho Santa Fe, and I need to know how Martyn Lawrence Bullard even comes up with some of these ideas. The parquet floors were reclaimed from an actual Cartier boutique, there’s Cordovan-style leather on the walls, and an entire indoor spa inspired by a Moroccan hammam. The pool is surrounded by intricate blue-and-white tilework, and it looks like something you’d find tucked away in a palace in Marrakech. Landry Design Group brought the architecture of Andalusia into the California countryside, and the Spanish and Moroccan influences are everywhere. Those arched corridors, the courtyard, the carved details, and the geometric plaster ceilings give this house so much character. That bedroom ceiling is practically a work of art. Imagine waking up to that every morning. That dining room with the blue walls and antique lanterns? I’d be hosting dinner parties for people I barely know just to have an excuse to use it.
