As @swgs got a portrait of @mike_infinity_ I snapped into sniper mode and snagged this shot of Mike lighting a cigarette through the arms of Stephen.

Surgery Part 2: The Recovery

Three weeks post myomectomy surgery and the recovery is much harder, slower, and more painful than I anticipated

In week 3, I transitioned to using a cane (which I quite enjoy). My mobility increased and I can do many more things for myself. However most chores and errands are still beyond my ability. I’m not allowed to pick up anything heavier than a gallon of water. I still can’t drive and riding in the car hurts. So I’m mostly housebound, except for walking around the block (that’s how far I can walk) or going to the park in a wheelchair (which is delightful).

My spirits are mostly high, through I do have little breakdowns here and there. And I still have pain daily; evenings and mornings are the roughest.

I couldn’t have made it through this without my nurse / surgery doula / beloved friend @lilrainbowgrl ! I’m constantly moved by their tender care, patience, and ability to infuse this arduous experience with joy, sweetness, and whimsy. 💖⭐️

I’ve been so deeply touched by the outpouring of community offerings: delectable food & sweet treats, surprise luminaries, art, flowers, tech support, thoughtful gifts, errands, chores, prayers, massages, foot baths, cute visits, and more. Thank you everyone for your support! It has truly sustained my body and spirit. Honestly, please keep it coming, because I will still be healing for a while longer.

Meal Train is still going if you’d like to make some food or contribute to medical bills. Other offerings of support or sweetness welcome too. 💜🙏🏼✨

Can’t wait to take this out for more shooting! My fellow photographers, let’s go shoot! 📸 (Also, tagged some of my favorite local photographers 💪🏾)
