There’s something special about not being afraid to try. You might suck at it but you do it anyway. Then you learn. Then you grow.

Representation matters.🙌🏽

I’m sharing a photo of my mum and I in our swimwear after a swim at the newly opened Sealanes. We had an amazing time but still didn’t see many women like us. That’s because Asian women are scared of water as they weren’t encouraged to learn to swim from a young age. 🏊‍♀️

As a South Asian swimming teacher, I rarely see people who look like me represented in swimming campaigns. And my mum? She’s 75 years old, South Asian, and still getting in the water. That’s something worth celebrating. Many were telling her how inspired they are to see her swimming.🌟

There are still stereotypes that “Asians don’t swim,” but we’re here to challenge them. We swim. We teach. We encourage others. And we’re proving that swimming is for everyone, at every age.💪🏼

Seeing a 75-year-old South Asian woman enjoying open water alongside her daughter shouldn’t be unusual
but it still feels incredibly rare. We hope that changes.🫶🏼

To the sports and swimwear brands: if you’re serious about inclusion, show people from all communities, all ages, and all backgrounds. Representation isn’t just about being seen it’s about inspiring the next generation to believe they belong too.🥰

Here’s to more visibility, more diversity, and more people feeling welcome in the water. 💙

I’m here to change that so to all my sisters out there, if you want to learn to swim and set a challenge and go into open water, please get in touch. I’m working on an exciting project and I’m looking for Asian women who want to try a swim in sealanes. Get in touch I’ve got 15 spots. 🙌🏽🩵🏊🏽‍♀️

3 days. 9 swims. 45 kilometers. Zero excuses. Ever wondered what it actually takes to survive a brutal ultra-distance swim challenge?

We sat down with the absolute powerhouse that is Naomi Rumble to get the raw, unfiltered, and hilariously honest truth about her recent 3x Triple 5km feat.

Spoiler alert: It involves a lot less high-tech sports science and a lot more pizza, ibuprofen, and sheer mental grit.

Here’s a sneak peek of what she covers in our latest blog post:

🧠Mind-Chunking: How she tricked her brain into surviving those endless middle kilometers staring at the bottom of the pool.
🤳Real-Life Recovery: Her unorthodox routine of heavy-handed shea butter slathering, lifting stiff shoulders, and strategic doom scrolling.
👙The "Inflatable" Swimsuit Mishap: The gear choice on swim number six that left her dragging a massive pocket of trapped water (and feeling like she had a balloon on her ass!).
🏊‍♀️What’s Next (and What’s NEVER): Why she’s eyeing the Serpentine 6-mile next, but absolutely drawing the line at the English Channel (thanks, but no thanks, jellyfish).

Whether you’re training for your first sprint tri or quietly wondering if you could ever take on a massive challenge of your own, Naomi’s advice is exactly what you need to hear today: "You never know what you are capable of until you try... break it down into manageable chunks."

10:35 AM Open water swim 2.5km

I am over the moon that completed both as I was warned this is not the best idea to do both on the same day by the organiser.
•
•
It really was the perfect way to finish the last day of competition in the sea!
•
•
The weather was hot and that’s how I like it!
•
•
Don’t get my wrong, I was nervous and apprehensive this morning. Well I proved to myself that I can challenge myself! That’s why I am so happy about it.
•
•
What’s even better that I came 3rd in my age group for the half marathon but the swimming came second last in my age group! Some very speedy swimmers out there!
•
•
I am certainly giving myself a pat on my back!
•
•
The run was good, all inside the Turia riverbank. I do like this kind of weather but I had to conserve my energy for the swim. Only miss the silver medal by 30 seconds!
•
•
The swim was really lovely but the waves was pretty huge! Bigger than the practice swim a couple of days ago! Had to switch between frontcrawl and breaststroke as I was thrown all around. Very hard to spot the floating markers.
•
•
Today also marked exactly 5 months since my wrist fracture. It’s not the same but I am adopting and still doing daily physio! I was not able to do it this morning…. Oops! I am proud the injury didn’t hold me back for long!
•
•
I really enjoyed the competition but also meeting so many beautiful people. Sadly everything has to come to an end. What a lovely ending to all the sports.
