HOW DID THEY GET HERE? 🏀

The road to Hawai’i starts in a lot of different places.

We explored 92 players across the 2026–27 men’s and women’s basketball rosters at Hawai’i’s three NCAA Division II schools.

One finding stood out: at UH Hilo, prior college experience was far more common among men than women. Across the six programs, the two year college route also played a much larger role on men’s rosters.

And the geographic reach tells another part of the story. Nearly 79% of players with known high school locations started outside Hawai’i.

Six programs. Different roster compositions. Plenty of different roads to get there.

📊 Source: Official 2026–27 team rosters and NYH verified pathway research. Roster membership last checked October 11, 2026.

A rising 8th grader that had a chance to play with Hawaii Baptist Academy Varsity Girls basketball team this summer! TaMiah is working hard and learning to be an elite, high-energy two way guard with tenacious defense. She has lots to learn but is very coachable. She has traveled with @filamnationselectchicago
to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to play in USJN P32 and Louisville, Kentucky to play in the Under Armour Run4Rose. As this summer comes to an end she is grateful for Coach Jo with Fil-am Chicago and Coach Rob with HBA girls Varsity for allowing her to play and believing in her to blend in with the team!
