POV: You send your little girl to camp…and she comes home a little more confident than when she left. 🥹💛

Thank you, WEPAW/YEPAW, for giving my little Bean an unforgettable week. I watched her go from tears and homesickness to joy, confidence, and performing a solo on the final day. 🎤✨

Thank you to God, The Howards, Big Cousin Erin, and the incredible Dream Team for pouring into these kids. My heart is so full, and I’m one proud mama. 💛 Special shoutout to the Mullins crew for adding your special touch to Em’s Akron tour 😉

Huge shoutout to @youthatthecenter513 and everyone who made Independence City happen! I love that our kids have the chance to “try on” adulthood before it becomes their full-time job. And let’s be honest…sometimes hearing life lessons from someone other than your parents is way more effective. 😂

Today’s biggest takeaways:

Savani: “Kids are expensive.”

Sydnee: “I’m never having kids.” 🤣🤣🤣

I know they learned so much more than that…budgeting, careers, responsibilities, and all kinds of real-world skills…but I’d say they definitely got the message! ❤️

Family Advocacy Day at the Ohio Statehouse 💙

This week my girls got to see firsthand why advocacy matters and not just through my work, but through the power of using our voices and showing up for our communities.

We joined @groundworkohio and families to advocate for children and families across our state, and I’m so grateful they were able to experience that with me.

Huge thank you to Deja and Nora from Senator Ingram’s office for spending lunch with us and making the girls feel so welcomed. And special shoutout our Representative @ashleyforohio for stopping by straight from committee before heading back to Cincy. Seeing a Black woman lead and advocate for our communities is so powerful for young girls to witness.

Also loved seeing Pastor Orlando Hale, Charla Hale, and their family there too 💜 #TheWellChurchRepresents

Some of the best moments come after long days doing important work 💙

After spending the day at the Ohio Statehouse for Family Advocacy Day with Groundwork Ohio, the girls got the sweetest surprise via @radiance02 & @lifeisag4mble…tickets to COSI from Charles Hill & Frederic Bertley. What an incredible way to reward them after a full day of meeting leaders and using their voices.

As a mom, I want my girls to know that advocacy matters, community matters, and joy matters too. Wednesday, they got to experience all of it.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity. The girls had an absolute blast, and this momma’s heart is full. ✨

Even though I was a little grumpy all weekend, my crew still showed up for me on Momma’s Day. I thought about hiding out and keeping to myself, but they just weren’t having it. I thank God for sending me each of them (even my biggest baby @anttony679) to love on me, care for me, and to remind me of the goodness of God’s grace even on days I don’t deserve it.

Meet our BTS Photographer, Sydnee Oxner!
🎓
Year:
Freshman
🎓
Dream Career:
My dream career would be to be a movie producer/director and work with the people that I love watching on TV and in theaters. If I don’t end up becoming that, I would still love to have the opportunity to work on a movie or TV show set and get the same experience there.
🎓
Favorite Aspect of Working on the Ms. Rossi Short Film:
My favorite part was definitely having those in-between moments where we were just hysterically laughing with each other and just getting to know the cast. I was the behind-the-scenes photographer for the film, and it was actually my first time being part of a crew like this for a film in general, so I’m just grateful to have been able to meet new people and for them taking a chance on me with my little experience.
