6/24/2025: I had to see Sydney Jones as Betty Schaefer and she was fabulous!

With the show on 6/24/2025 being my 5th time watching this production, Sydney completed my puzzle. It was also a special night given it was a rare Mandy Gonzalez × Sydney Jones combo!

My very first Sunset Boulevard was with Glenn Close in 1994 (Los Angeles) & 2017 revival thereafter in Broadway.

I also saw Asia Tour of Sunset Boulevard in Singapore with Sarah Brightman in February 2025. My ears have gone through various versions of cast recordings over three decades and I love listening to the Orchestra on its standalone too.

With some of my favorite songs being "Girls Meet Boy", "This Time Next Year", and "Too Much Love to Care" to name a few, the character - Betty Schaefer's voice becomes a pivotal part of the experience.
Sydney's version of Betty had good chemistry with Joe as well as with Artie.

Sydney's voice beautifully characterized Betty as someone who exude mix of gentleness and of a determined woman with strength.

With Sydney Jones being Betty, I also saw a glimpse of Young Norma in her, and Joe's polarization between the two ladies and the dynamic amongst the trio was vulnerably intensified.

I saw the following cast combinations thus far:

1. 11/22/24: Nicole x Tom x Grace x Pierre*
2. 3/27/25: Nicole x Diego* x Grace x David
3. 5/31/25: Nicole x Tom x Grace x David
4. 6/3/25: Mandy* x Tom x Grace x David
5. 6/24/25: Mandy* x Tom x Sydney* x Jordan*

*Norma Desmond x Joe Gillis x Betty Schaefer x Max von Mayerling

The Principals & Covers of @OfficialEvita on Broadway, starring Rachel Zegler as Eva Perón. The full cast was announced today and it is one of the most exciting teams I have ever seen! So many wonderful talents and familiar faces. I can’t wait to see them all at the First Preview in February. 💙☀️
