Bo Burnham - Inside

This is probably my favorite piece of art that came out of the pandemic. I remember when it came out towards the end of my senior year of college, my small handful of friends that had kept me sane got together after getting our vaccinations to watch this. This music walks the tightrope between funny and heartbreaking so well. I’ll never forget how seen we all felt and how inspiring it was to see how Bo spent the entire pandemic driving himself insane creating this work that would help so many people feel connected through our shared trauma. I don’t even feel like I can call this a comedy special because I don’t know any other comedy special that makes me cry like this. This is unparalleled genius and I just hope he’s doing okay now after sharing something so personal about the darkest time in many of our lives. This album makes me think of the good times of quarantine as well as the lonely times where I felt like I was going crazy and lets those memories coexist in an absurdist time capsule that I can open up whenever I need to think of those blurry confusing years. Anyway, for me, this is the greatest piece of art birthed from the covid 19 quarantine and it will always be a part of me and the others that found connection through it. So thankful for my friends I went through this with.

Just shy of 200 shows and many finger callouses later, @kenrextheplay has taken us from Sheffield to London to New York City. What a dream. Thank you to everyone in the show’s wider family who helped bring what @edstambo @1jackholden and I dreamed up to life. Thank you NYC for the insane welcome and life changing times in this great city. Heading home inspired, tired, and already planning a return. But first, snoozetime ❤️🙏🏻🎸
