From strangers to a global community

The Global Sports Mentorship Program gave us far more than resources, knowledge, and tools to empower athletes and communities in our countries.

It gave us something even more valuable and that is connection.

What began as a group of strangers became something far beyond that. A connection built across borders, united by purpose, passion, and a shared vision for making a difference. The most beautiful part is that this continues to grow.This experience will last a lifetime, this experience has challenged me and it has inspired me.

Some journeys teach you skills. Others change your perspective. This one gave me both and a global community I will always be grateful for.

Forever thankful for the memories, the friendships, the airport hugs, the high fives, and the lifelong connections that turned strangers into a global community.

🇺🇸 La última semana del GSMP en Washington me llenó de más amor del que podía imaginar. Junto a mi nueva familia conocí lugares bellísimos, llenos de historia y de significado, que le dan sentido a todo lo que aprendimos en estas cinco semanas de intercambio.

En el Departamento de Estado, hablamos de nuestros países, conocimos un poco más la realidad de cada uno de nosotros y conversamos con líderes que escucharon y reforzaron las propuestas que hemos creado para aplicar en nuestros territorios. También sumamos un retrato más a nuestra colección de fotos familiares.

Volví a abrazar a @milky.wai! Y nuestras caras reflejan la alegría de vernos y chismosear hasta el cansancio… en español!

Como lo haría cualquier buen hermano, Petar se encargó de mi styling, por eso siempre me veía linda. Las dos últimas fotos quedaron como evidencia de esto.

The final week of the GSMP in Washington filled me with more love than I could have ever imagined. Together with my new family, I visited beautiful places, rich in history, that gave meaning to everything we learned during these five weeks of exchange.

At the State Department, we talked about our countries, learned a little more about each other’s realities, and spoke with leaders who listened to and endorsed the proposals we’ve created to implement in our communities. We also added another portrait to our family photo collection.

I got to hug Liz again! And our faces reflect the joy of seeing each other and gossiping until we were exhausted… in Spanish!

Like any good brother would, @ilevpetar took care of my styling, which is why I always looked cute. The last two photos are proof of that.
