Day 17/100 of my @dothe100dayproject after a prompt from @sydsider I have had my first go at gelli plate printing. As is my way I read a book, watched some reels and jumped right in. My composition needs some work and I should have been bolder with the colours (not something I ever thought I would need to say 😂) but all in all it was a fun experience, I learned a lot and am quite pleased with this first print #dothe100dayproject #dothe100dayproject2026 #notprofessionalbutreal

Perhaps a search for textures and colors, irony or the play of movements, the discomfort of imperfection or the comfort of the balanced chaos of chance, a summary of restlessness fills the artist to create and recreate what forces him to hold his breath, to satisfy the blessed condemnation of being an antenna that captures synchronized frequencies in a rhythm, harmony and melody of life.

Whether we are creators or spectators, art always reminds us that we are alive and is infinite

Latest concertina book collaboration with @sydsider
Quite different, very simple, but with a definite impact. Almost organic….
I love this one 💖

Background is dark blues and black - so collaged pieces needed to be light and bright.

Working collaboratively has definitely challenged both of us but we also agree we have grown creatively in our processes.

We have differences in what we like in our approach, and to the finished work, and have had great discussions on this subject. But always - the piece we are working on comes first. What does IT need. Not what do I need.

I feel we work so well as a team, and I look forward to many more collaborations in 2025 and beyond.

I’m visiting with @sydsider and after watching her work her magic with collage yesterday, decided to do a few myself (see previous post).
It’s nice to spend some time with a creative friend and immerse oneself in a bit of printing, a bit of collage and a lot of fun!

More of my gel prints from the recent fun get together day with @sydsider
She challenged me to work within limitations - using off-cut scraps as masks (see last photo) and black, white, burnt sienna and burnt umber as my colours.
I used her @gelliarts 3” x 5” plate and printed over an A4 sheet of 160 gsm copy paper.
Absolutely loved this challenge. This is my favourite print from that day ✨

More of my prints from recent gel printing play day with @sydsider
Whilst @sydsider was making collage, I was deep diving into all things floral - using my hand cut stencil and masks, @amsterdamacrylics paints, @gelliarts gel plate and 120gsm copy paper.

Gel prints made by me when @sydsider and I got together yesterday for a day of creative play.
The first prints were made using the charcoal image transfer process. It was fun to explore this technique again. @gelliarts gel plate, charcoal sticks, soft chalky pastels and acrylic paint.

Another finished concertina book - the result of a collaborative creative project with @sydsider
Such a different vibe to the other one. Both started at the same time, but on opposite sides of Australia, then posted to each other to add the next layer.
Back and forth the books went (often crossing in the post) until one of us calls a book done!
Book No.3 has just been started….
