Goooooood morning!! As promised, here’s the winning board my client chose—the teal and yellow palette✨ Now this is the first proposal so things will likely shift along the way, but the overall vision for this twin boy nursery is MAGICAL.
.
Fun fact about the home—they live in the most incredible midcentury home. Literally the most stunning example of midcentury design I’ve ever seen. So these babes are already super lucky. I wanted to honor the style of the home while bringing in some Scandinavian calming vibes and pops of color.
.
I also wanted to give plenty of interest without overpowering, so we did that through curves! Curvy wallpaper sets the tone without being too busy of a pattern, and that curve is repeated through the floor lamp and table lamp. Some fun geometry through the most delicious checkerboard Beni ourain rug and yellow curtains. Oh yeah…and a fun ocean teal ceiling with a very apropos name🙃

Dressers with character are sooo expensive, so my favorite hack is to get a solid dresser and do custom knobs. Here I presented brass and colored leather.

Art is very important to me in every space, and here I presented 2 pieces from @sylbiee daily art practice that she graciously decided to turn into prints for us! 🙌🙌

I picked up this beautiful skein when @blufibercompany came to Seattle from Oregon at the local yarn shop! It's very special to me and I love a good theme & yarn color/pattern combo so couldn't help but pair "The Good Witch" with a HP-inspired beanie, more specifically {Amortentia}, the most powerful love potion in the world 💘

Fun fact: Voldemort was conceived under Amortentia 🖤

For my 1,000th instagram post 💫: On the blog: 28 small special gifts under $50. I’ve been adding to and subtracting from this list for weeks. My intention is to encourage you to shop from small businesses with heart and integrity and to really be mindful of your purchases this year. What if instead of focusing on the material goods, you just gifted a single special item and the rest of your gift was something intangible? In a season of excess material goods, food, drink, etc, what if we instead gifted and consumed a healthier type of excess? Excess love, self care, happiness, kindness, etc. Over the pandemic, I think we’ve all deepened our appreciation of our home and our people. So take care of both this season💜

Many of the gifts on my list are to cultivate mindfulness and encourage you to slow down and take note. There are things like architectural incense holders, vintage Italian Florentine salt and pepper grinders, abstract planters, crystals, gratitude journal, Best Self card deck, etc. One of the items on my gift list is this silk sleep mask from @shopmeimeimoon designed by @sylbiee! I’ve been wearing a silk sleep mask for at least 7 years and it’s a great gift to encourage slowness and rest through the holidays and beyond💜 Link to the blog post in bio and on stories☺️

Hi there! Sylvie from Mei-Mei Moon here. 👋 As a small startup owned and operated by three women of diverse backgrounds, we thought it might be fun to do a quick round of intros. I’ll go first. ☺️

I’m a self-taught artist from Walnut Creek, CA passionate about mindfulness, textile design, and bringing joy to others. For as long as I can remember, I’ve dreamed of making art and running my own business. Luckily both of these things are huge parts of my role as Head of Product & Design at Mei-Mei Moon.

The idea for Mei-Mei Moon came about when my sister-in-law was looking for silk pillowcases for my 6yo niece, who has very curly hair. We searched for toddler-sized silk pillowcases but the selection was limited and the designs uninspiring. Even silk pillowcases for adults seemed to be more focused on function rather than form. What if we could merge the amazing benefits of silk pillowcases for hair & skin- (anti-frizz, hydrating, cooling, etc) with fresh prints and patterns that looked like art? That initial conversation sparked the idea for our first Mei-Mei Moon product: a silk pillowcase printed with hand-painted artwork that would look beautiful on any bed.

As for our name, we have my family to thank for that too. In Mandarin, “Mei-Mei” literally means younger sister. As the youngest of 3 kids, Mei-Mei is what my family has always called me. I always felt so lucky to be the youngest because I always felt safe and cared for—like someone was always thinking about me wishing me well. I want Mei-Mei Moon customers to feel that same sense of love and thoughtfulness in each of our products, so they can sleep better at night and be more mindful and productive with their waking hours.

The iconic Ready-Made pens are back and now animal-friendly! Back to the good old "pen-included-in-every-order" days! Plus, we collaborated with studio SYLVO (@studiosylvo) to make a new cruelty-free bunny sticker that will also go into every package.
