“Rehearsal”
Dance at Illinois’ new departmental performance journal: rehearsaljournal.org

In consultation with his colleagues in the Department of Dance, Teaching Assistant Professor Samuel Hanson is editing a fresh experiment in dance writing. “Rehearsal” is a new journal of dance and performance. As Samuel writes in his introductory letter, available at rehearsaljournal.org, “The name expresses what I hope to do as an editor — to catch ideas in writing as they spill out of the choreographic process.”

The inaugural article documents the beginning of a new creative process taking place on the Olympic Peninsula between Dance at Illinois alum Jessie Young (MFA ’16) @jessie.alexandra.young and New York choreographer Jeanine Durning.

Write to Samuel at samuelbh@illinois.edu with your own ideas about choreography and how you’re rehearsing them.
