These are the four pillars we build our marriage on, and the order matters.

1. Movement: Moving together resets your body and clears your head.

2. Connection: Moving together calms you down so you can show up for each other. Stay curious and keep dating the person you married.

3. Fuel: Everything you take in together counts, from the food on your table to the books, ideas, and plans that keep you growing.

4. Resilience: Hard seasons come for every marriage. Calm your nervous systems together, protect your sleep, and recover as a team so those seasons don’t pull you apart.

Repeat: A healthy marriage is built week after week. Go back to Movement and start again.

The research is clear: your spouse’s health is your health data.

A study of 8,386 couples found that the person you share a life with directly affects your risk for some of the most common chronic conditions.

This isn’t a coincidence.

It’s called spousal health concordance, and it changes everything about how you should think about your health and your relationship.

Follow along as we share what it looks like to build your health together as a couple.

Consistent, daily commitments that pay us now.

A strong marriage is not two people who never face a storm.
It is two people who have decided the boat is never allowed to sink.

Most couples are incredibly intentional about their careers, their finances, even their home. But their health? They optimize it separately — in parallel, never quite together. Two people in the same house running completely different operating systems and wondering why it feels disconnected.

That is the gap nobody is talking about.
Have you felt it?

It is exactly what Aaron and I decided to close.

After 20+ years of marriage and nearly two decades of building our health individually, we made one decision that changed everything: We stopped optimizing as two people and started designing as a unit.

That is the category we are building at Sync & Thrive.

Not fitness.
Not couples therapy.

Health alignment as a deliberate life design decision for couples who are ready to stop moving in parallel and start moving as one.

👋🏽 I'm Jaylene, co-founder of @syncyourwellness with my husband Aaron.

P.S. If you and your partner are done optimizing separately and ready to design your health as a unit, comment "THRIVE" and I'll send you our newsletter.

Ever feel like you’re stuck in a loop of rumination that just won’t quit? You’re not alone. At Sync & Thrive, we believe that breaking free starts with movement.

In our latest newsletter, “Negativity Bog,” we dive into how small, intentional habits can transform your day and your mindset.

I’m twelve days into my 30-day challenge, and with 600 squats under my belt, the hills on my walks are feeling like a breeze. Next up? Running up every one of them!

These routines aren’t just about personal success. They’re the foundation of everything we’re building at Sync & Thrive. When we design our health habits, we design our lives. And it all starts with a single step.

Join us on this journey to build high-agency habits across movement, connection, fuel, and resilience. Let’s create a life where negativity doesn’t stand a chance.

Our inherited defaults used to be a roadblock.

It wasn’t because we didn’t love each other. We were building from assumptions we never questioned.

What our parents modeled.
What our families ate.
What our culture said about rest.
What the fitness industry decided bodies should look like.

Most couples inherit these defaults and never realize they’re operating someone else’s system.

If you’re building a shared life together, you don’t need more motivation.

You need better thinking tools.

Here are three mental models we use daily in our marriage and business. Swipe through.

Which one do you and your partner need most right now? Drop a 1, 2, or 3 below 👇

A 10% increase in ultra-processed food intake is linked to lower attention and higher dementia risk. Even if you’re eating healthy otherwise.

I read @foundmyfitness post and went straight to the research paper. Because I wanted to know what 10% actually means in real life.

Here’s what I found:

→ 10% equals about one personal serving size bag of chips. Those little packs you grab at checkout or buy in bulk for your kids at Costco.

→ This held true even for people following a Mediterranean diet. The processing itself is the problem.

So I asked the next question: Can I out-exercise this? Exercise builds neuroplasticity. It helps our brains grow. Shouldn’t that offset the damage?

No.

The study explains exactly why. The emulsifiers, preservatives, and colorants in ultra-processed foods disrupt your gut bacteria. That leads to inflammation and increased gut permeability. And that inflammation travels. It impairs neurotransmission and can even trigger brain cell death.

Exercise is powerful. But it cannot reverse a chemical cascade happening at the cellular level.

I’m careful about the snacks we buy. Clean ingredients, no seed oils. But this got me thinking: is my version of healthy processed snacks really healthy enough?

What about you?

Aaron had been trying to get me interested in what he was learning from his podcasts for years, but I was not ready. Then the pandemic hit, and we were going stir crazy. We started watching YouTube together when something finally clicked.

One channel led to many micro-farming videos. His parents had land, and we thought, why not. So we went all in and built a 50-foot greenhouse, plowed a field, laid irrigation, planted almost everything from seeds, and learned more about working together than any conversation ever taught us.

We were exhausted by the time we could actually sell anything, and when work started calling us back, it gave us the perfect out, but we never walked away from what the farm gave us.

Fuel is one of our four pillars, and it is not only about nutrition. It is about the ideas you let in as a couple, what those ideas make you want to build, and whether you are consuming separately or on the same path of discovery together.

A YouTube video changed our direction. What are you and your partner consuming together that leads to your shared growth right now?

Did you and your partner ever go all in on a shared idea together? Aaron, co-founder of Sync Your Wellness ingesting business podcasts like My First Million, self-improvement books from Tim Ferris, and finance by Charlie Munger.

When I read this research, it stopped me in my tracks.

The data is clear: married people have better health outcomes, lower mortality rates, and stronger immune function. It also showed that a troubled or disconnected marriage has the opposite effect, becoming a source of chronic stress that erodes the very health marriage is meant to protect.

That distinction changed everything for me. It meant that loving each other was not enough. We had to be intentional about what we were building together, day by day, or we would quietly lose the very thing we were trying to protect.

Our faith, love and our commitment to working as a team have always been the foundation of our marriage. But our health was not always part of that equation. Sync&Thrive became the framework that brought it all together, the place where our health finally joined everything else we were already building as a couple.

And it is exactly why we built the Sync Quiz™ around the four pillars that have had the biggest impact on our own marriage: Movement, Connection, Fuel, and Resilience. Research on Sociogenomics and Relational Health define why they are vital. The quiz takes three minutes and shows you exactly where you and your partner are aligned and where you are out of sync.

Take the Sync Quiz™ to see where yours stands. Link in bio or comment “Quiz” and I’ll send it to you.

Italy gave us the idea. Our neighborhood became the practice. @aaronpatelzick and I walk to dinner once a week and it has become one of our favorite rituals.

Your partner’s obesity risk is your obesity risk, their depression risk is yours, and their recovery is yours too. This is biology and a shared environment working in both directions. The only question is whether you design it together or inherit it by default.

The Sync Quiz™ was built around the four pillars that have had the biggest impact on our own marriage: Movement, Connection, Fuel, and Resilience. It takes three minutes and shows you exactly where you and your partner are strong and where you are out of sync.

This is where you start. 👇

We have been happy in our marriage, but we were not taking care of ourselves the way we deserved. We had different ideas, different fears, and very different timelines. What finally got us moving in the same direction was not a program. It was a decision, made together, to stop waiting for the perfect moment.

We are still on this journey together. If you are too, welcome. You are in the right place.

Most couples are already running on shared habits yet do not know where they are actually out of sync on their health until someone asks the right questions. If you are ready to stop waiting and start designing your health together, that is exactly why we created the Sync Quiz™.

It takes three minutes and it shows you exactly where to start. Link in bio.

Aaron and I have done our annual doctor visits and lab follow-ups together for years. It keeps us honest, keeps us on the same page, and means that when something shows up in the numbers, we are already there to figure it out as a team.

Is this something you and your partner do? Would it be something you would consider doing? 👇
