I was never talented.
Not naturally. Not in anything I ever touched.
People around me kept saying I had certain gifts, like it just came easy. The truth is it was never talent. It was consistent hard work that went completely unnoticed for a long time. Nobody saw the hours, the quiet repetition, the nights I kept going when it still looked like nothing was happening. They only started paying attention once it finally began to show.

Just because someone tells you you’ll never get good at something doesn’t mean you stop. You keep going. Not for them. Not to prove a point. For yourself. If it makes you happy, you push harder. You choose the thing that actually fills you up, not the thing that drains you and makes you sick just to meet someone else’s standard.

I had to build myself up so solid that other people couldn’t break through the wall. Because they tried. Prior friends and family doubted me. Laughed behind my back. Acted like I was chasing something I could never catch. They made it clear they didn’t see it.

These past six months things have been changing. And now those same people treat me differently. Suddenly there’s respect. Suddenly there’s interest. When it should’ve been like that from the start.

Funny how the energy shifts once the results are undeniable. But by then you already know the truth you never needed their belief. You only needed your own.
