Syracuse is “no where close” to where it needs to be, per HC Gerry McNamara.

There were some solids today, but there were many things that need to be fixed. That’s what exhibition games are for and I trust this coaching staff to get things done.

Syracuse drops their first exhibition game to UConn 72-52. There was a ton of good tonight. Just have to fix the smaller things.

Cuse will play Siena for the second exhibition game on Sunday.

Aiden and Garwey should both be fine after suffering minor injuries. Defense looked very solid in the first half.

ANDY RAUTINS WAS A WALKING HEAT CHECK AT SYRACUSE. 🍊🎯

If you watched Big East basketball in the late 2000s, you knew Andy Rautins could absolutely LIGHT IT UP.

The Syracuse guard was a sniper from beyond the arc, a smart playmaker, and a fearless competitor who could swing a game with a few possessions of pure shooting brilliance. When he found his rhythm, opposing defenses had a serious problem — leave him an inch of space, and the ball was probably going up.

Rautins was a key part of Jim Boeheim’s Orange teams, bringing shooting and versatility to a program that was always a threat in March. His senior season was a showcase of everything he did well: knocking down shots from deep, creating for teammates, and making plays on the defensive end.

And if you remember Syracuse’s legendary six-overtime Big East Tournament battle against UConn, you remember just how wild that era of college basketball could get. Rautins was right in the middle of it, delivering clutch shooting on one of the sport’s most unforgettable nights.

He eventually became one of Syracuse’s most prolific three-point shooters and earned All-American recognition, leaving behind a legacy as one of the Orange’s great perimeter weapons.

Andy Rautins didn’t need much space. He just needed the ball.

That guy rocked. 🏀
