Amy

Amy,

📍 Széchenyi Thermal Bath, Budapest 🇭🇺

Spent the afternoon at Széchenyi Thermal Bath in Budapest. The outdoor pools are the main draw, especially with the yellow neo-baroque buildings around you. Some places make you feel like you’ve stepped into another time.

Surrounded by grand yellow walls and steaming turquoise waters, it felt like a little escape from the world. Budapest, you have a way of turning ordinary moments into unforgettable memories.

Europe has officially ruined me. And I would like to file a complaint. 😂✈️

Because why do I now expect trains to arrive on time, random streets to look like movie sets, coffee at fancy places, and every weekend to involve a new country?

A few days in Europe and suddenly my standards have become completely unreasonable.

The worst part? I’d happily go back and make the same mistake all over again.

Please tell me I’m not the only one suffering from post-Europe expectations. 😭

📩 Send this to that friend who came back from Europe and hasn’t stopped talking about it.

Some cities have grand museums. Others have legendary restaurants. Budapest has entire palaces dedicated to the art of doing absolutely nothing. And frankly, we think that’s rather wonderful. ♨️🇭🇺

From the steaming outdoor pools of Széchenyi to the atmospheric Ottoman dome at Rudas, Budapest’s thermal baths are far more than a wellness trend. They’re part of the city’s soul, where centuries of history meet the simple pleasure of sinking into mineral-rich waters and letting the world get on without you for a while.

Having lived in Budapest, we know there’s more to the city’s bathing culture than its famous yellow facades. There are local favourites, hidden gems, architectural masterpieces and wonderfully affordable escapes, each with a character all its own.

So, which should you visit? We’ve rounded up the best thermal baths and spas in Budapest, whether you’re after historic grandeur, a romantic escape or simply a few blissful hours in the warm water.

Your next Budapest city break deserves a little time to soak it all in.
