One month ago, magic was unleashed in the Department of Performing and Film Arts, Unilorin with the staging of Doctor Faustus, my final year project in the department.

While most of the talk covers the beauty and aesthetics witnessed that day as we journeyed to Germany to witness the story of John Faustus, the man who sold his soul to Lucifer for 24 years of magical abilities, nobody pays much attention to the pain behind the scenes.

As the legacy of the great Doctor Faustus leans towards one month at the theatre, I’m once again led to reminisce over my directorial journey; the sleepless nights, the anxious days, the restless moments, those times of joy and company and those periods of sorrow and regret.

And in all my thinking, I realize again that I couldn’t have done it without my amazing crew members, all ten of them, talented, dedicated, loving and encouraging… they were like family during the period; no day went by without me discussing something with one or all of them.

And again, my cast members… those who stood by me through the highs and lows, lived through my downtimes and breakdowns and helped me rise through those moments both openly and secretly. And even to those who drained my blood and sweat, now I look back to see how far we’d come, I’m empty of the grudges and drowned in gratitude to God and everyone else.

We made MAGIC ✨
NONE LIKE THE REIGN OF DOCTOR FAUSTUS 🌟
